After returning to Germany in EU4 and finally forming it after years, Tommy decides to come back to Japan and do the same.
After 4 years since the last time Tommy played one of his favorite nations in all of Paradox games, Tommy returns to Japan!
It's gonna be all about forming Japan and then messing around afterwards.
As TommyKay is an expert Japan player in HOI4, it's time to see how he does in Europa Universalis 4.

Heavies are still better than Gallies ship-for-ship if not economically. As Japan it's going to be better to build for gallies early since you will be fighting in those in-land seas you are correct.

@@mees9704 Heavies are still fantastic for taking damage, its not economically efficient, but even having one or two heavies in a costal fleet can help you win fights, even though you will probably lose them

There was a period a while ago where he had a "strategy" in which he thought that if he changed the division icon of a tank to something like an infantry helmet the enemies wouldn't know it was a tank, until Dankus told him it just shows the default icon and he realised his mistake.

If Tommy is doing an EU4 binge. He should try the Third Odyssey mod. It allows you to play Byzantium but in the New World. Its a total Colonization game with ALOT of personalized monuments. It really feels like building a nation from the ground up.

well, I would probably declare the war when he did because the massive navy can hold by sheer numbers. then i would wait until I at least had the same units as Korea (so catch up a bit in mil tech), and if possible I would walk in from the north by landing in one of the northern neutrals. Of course, if I have to take over for tommy in this position my nation is in a horrendously unprepared state and that i cant do much about right now. give me 20 years though and we should have caught up with the rest of the world (except maybe western Europe) in terms of tech and our army should be both larger and of higher quality (ideas) @@danabendu7294

Tommy I have played 400 hours EU4 (which is not that much) and I feel your frustration, try to use mercenaries, play strong nations first (brandernburg, österreich, France, Spain) and having wins on those, then try Japan, Japan is a difficult nation on my point of view.
