to be fair the game runs for about 400 years if you try and create a giant empire in only 150 ofc your going to get fucked by aggresive expansion

If you are still on tutorial level (around 1000h in) then yes, otherwise 150 years is way too much, you can easily create a empire that doesn't care about aggressive expansion in 100 years, There are achievements to take on whole India in less than 100 years. Snowballing in EU4 is one of the main problems of the game, if you know game well, abusing mercenaries/loans, truces is a standard.

eh he could easily take way more, if he had micro'd his diplomats well + improved with Portugal and Naples to not have to re-PU he probably wouldn't have that coalition. It happens though, my first few times playing EU4 I didn't even understand army composition and got wrecked by Austria as the Ottomans. He will learn.

My first EUIV game ever was on August 13 2013, and I played Spain. The game was just released on my birthday. My gf was sleeping like a log in 4 AM when I got wiped by a coalition of France, Morocco and the Mayans or whoever. Having RP-ed historically, I was raging at the fact that a coalition would form between those three.

@@dyingember8661 Well, i don't agree with you. ck2 its very easy to blob, once you understood how the inheritance works and so on. On the other hand to blob in eu4 you really need to take care of everything, and not just inherit an empire. The fact that ck3 is too open about what you can do in terms of marriages and inheritances makes that you can exploit that very easily.

Love the EU4 content lately, seeing you get into the game makes me feel better about still not understanding how to play lmao. (Also wanted to say I wonder if Spain ever gets a debuff when the great crash happens. Basically Spain kept importing so much silver from the New World without understanding the concept of inflation, insisting all silver is worth it's standard weight set by their government, which eventually collapsed after the said government became weaker and lost their fleets/lands to wars with England and Portugal.)

You get treasure fleets from your gold producing colonies pretty frequently and if I remember correctly these also give you some inflation, but you can offset that inflation easily with some inflation reduction modifiers, either from catholic church powers or ideas. But if you do nothing to lower your inflation you would get worsening debuffs over time from high inflation, but sadly no great crash event or disaster. Would be pretty fun though, considering how stupidly rich you can get from said treasure fleets very early in the game.
