For anyone who has this steering wheel and is finding that the blue centre stripe is fading, you can buy 'Angelus light blue acrylic leather paint' and mixed with a tiny bit of white paint it is a PERFECT match, literally just prep the surface, paint it, then use an acrylic finisher to gloss it up and protect it.

Tommy, thanks for this video! It really helped me. Unfortunately, it took a couple of tries to get everything right. It looks like you don’t have the Lane departure feature. This is where I had trouble. Here are some tips for anyone installing the wheel with the lane departure feature: 1. The new clip that comes with the wheel holds the lane departure motor to the metal part of the wheel. No matter how good the old clip looks, use the new one! The clip has to lock down all the way over the motor AND the metal part of the wheel. I had to use pliers to get the clip to lock down. It will click over the metal when you get it and you will know. If it is not locked down tight, the vibrating of the motor will pop the clip and your wheel will rattle very loudly when lane departure activates. 2. Be sure to install the clip over the metal part of the wheel before you install the plastic over the back of the wheel. If you install the plastic first, you will never get the clip to lock in place. 3. If you are changing the front trim to use the carbon fiber trim, be sure to remove the foam insulation piece from the old trim that covers the lane departure motor. If you don’t install that, your wheel will rattle like crazy when lane departure activates. 4. Yes I know that most of us will not use lane departure and you can simply disable it, but if you are going to install the wheel and you have the lane departure motor, you should be careful to install it correctly. Hope this helps someone Cheers!

You are absolutely right. That's why I went for the full alcantara wheel all the way round with a blue notch on top. Although my M4 is mineral white, I went for the blue notch rather than a red one because it matches the bmw badge in middle

I like the look and feel of your steering wheel, Tommy, but I gotta say the heating function would be hard for me to give up. I've never had it before, but it woulda come in handy when I was commuting and had my cars parked all winters' days long at the Seastreak and NY Waterway ferry terminals.

tjmcdiii I Drive my car daily and often I pick it up from the train station when it’s 5 F degrees outside. Having alcantara is a lot better than having a heated steering wheel. Alcantara is always warm, versus leather which takes a while to heat up. I’m very happy and have no regrets. Not sure if you’re local but if you are id be happy to let you see and feel the wheel in person.
