Hello, Paul! Another very nice steamers parade, always a pleasure to see your locomotives running. Your IHC loco reminds me of some long ago seen films, when my father took me to the cinema theaters in the city center, some great Western movies with such locomotives - and also those tall impressive American bridges from the railroad pioneering era, and all those great old fashioned actors...🚂🚃🚃🚃. Thanks for the video, have a peaceful evening! / Chris

Hi Chris, I have wanted a Wild West Train for years but never liked the Triang/Hornby models. I found this IHC (Mehano) a few years ago and am very happy how it runs. I bought the Wagons seperatley and they were quite hard to find. I watched the old American TV shows like Casey Jones and Petticote Junction (see KZbin) and really liked these old Locos. I am happy you liked the video and it brought back some memories for you. Cheers, Paul.🚂🚃👍👍🙏

Hi Tim, I have had this DCC Steamer for quite a few years now, it just doesnt get run very often. I am thinking of converting it to DC then it can join the rest of my Steamers. To be honest the sounds can give me a headache as I have sensitive hearing so maybe its better to be DC. Thanks for your great comments, they are always appreciated. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hi Paul, great running session. I am not a big fan of these little speakers in locomotives, they sound usually hollow and not pleasant. But I do like your Black 5, what a beautiful locomotive. I have ordered a secondhand Bachman 93xx Mogul. That will be my first larger British locomotives. 😊 I hope it will somehow run on my small layout with radius 1 curves, as most larger locomotives need radius 2. By the way: the noise of open type motors could maybe be dampened by enclosing them in styrene board or even rubber? Not sure if that is safe though. Have a nice Sunday evening! Erik

Hi Erik, to be honest I get a headache listening to these DCC Locos. I was even thinking of modifying it to run on DC without the sounds. I really like the Black 5 and its nicely weathered, its a shame it doesnt get run much. I only have this one Mehano Loco with the open frame motor, I have either scrapped or changed the motors in some as they are very bad runners. I only ran this one to show how noisy they are compared to a modern Can motor. I liook forward to seeing your 93XX Mogul its a shame you dont have a bigger layout but I am sure it will look good on your Persley layout. I am expecting quite a few used Locos to be delivered next week so I can repair them and run some next Sunday. Hope your eyesight is improving, Cheers, Paul. 👍👍🙏

Hey Paul, A DCC black 5 with all the trimmings. It sounds pretty good and runs really smooth. I have a few DCC locos, and I even have the controller, but I've never bothered to hook it up. Lazy eh. I have the Bachmann version of your American steamer, it runs really well. It must be 30 years old by now. I'm going to buy a Mehano with the open frame motor, I'm curious to see how they are set up. I'm enjoying this series mate, it's really interesting to see locos I don't have having a run. Steven.

Hi Steven, It has been more than 2 years since I ran the Black 5. I did nothing to it just took it out of its box and it ran perfectly. I am thinking of converting it to DC as I am not that bothered about the sounds plus I have sensative hearing. I also have a DCC Class 37 that rarely gets a run as I am too lazy to hook up the controller (2 plugs). I really like my Wild West Loco and was surprised how well it runs for the money. Its an IHC model which basically is a Mehano repackaged for various retailers. I have either scrapped or re-motored my Mehano Locos that had the open frame motor, this little 0-4-0 is the only one still intact. I have tried everything to get them to run smoothly and quietly but gave up trying. They are reliable though and quite powerful if your not bothered about the noise they make. I believe Mehano made 5 pole open frame motors in the seventies that were very good they are quite rare though. I am expecting a number of used Steamers and Diesels this week so after repairs and motor swaps I hope to show 1 or 2 next Sunday. Thanks for all your support and kind comments,. All the best, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hello Paul another fine running session my friend.I don’t mind when my locos make a bit of noise running tbh.Would you believe I was going to purchase a Dapol loco the other week and it stated it had a ‘coreless motor’ I wasn’t sure if it would be ok to run with my Gaugemaster controller so I contacted ROS and they said it wouldn’t! What’s the point of that making a motor that doesn’t work with Gaugemaster controllers! Have a nice day Paul 😊👍
@paulvozman842Ай бұрын
Hi Michael, I have not run the Black 5 and Wild West Loco for quite a long time. I am thinking of converting the Black 5 to DC then it will get more use. Thats good you checked whether a coreless motor will run on your Gaugemaster controller. I dont have any Locos with a coreless motor, its good you mentioned it I will avoid them. I have a number of used Steam and Diesel Locos arriving this week they will keep me busy repairing them. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Where do you buy them all from Paul ?
@paulvozman842Ай бұрын
Hi Michael, Sorry for the late reply, I had to buy a new mobile phone and get it laoded with all the appa etc. Then my Laptop needed some TLC so all tech problems. I buy most of my Locos and rolling stock from Ebay, and some from a few other sites. I also buy some when on holiday like in Germany in April. Cheers, Paul.
