Lovely Paul. Nice to see the 3 big ones out. The Merchant Navy is a beaut.Yep..Evening Star worked for just 5 years...withdrawn in 1965 after having a bump at Cardiff East dock shed. All the best.

Hi Tim, the Merchant Navy Class are superb looking Locos. My 9F runs well around my tighter curves as does my 8F. It was good to get them serviced and running after a long break. Aparrently the 9Fs were quite economical on coal and were amazing pullers. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hi Paul, some nice steamers there butty. I really like the 8F, I,m on the lookout for a Hornby Dublo 8F. I did service on one for a mates dad recently. The Hornby Merchant Navy is a beauty. All the best butty. Carl.

Hi Carl, I hope you find a Hornby Dublo 8F, might be hard to find a good one but they are a great looking Loco. Cheers, Paul.

Hi Paul, Its very nice to see your steam loco's running the diesels are also very nice with all the work you do on them but at heart I am a steam fan so seen the two videos more please. Cheers Robert.

Hi Robert, I made my layout with the idea of it being themed in the 50s and 60s with only Steam Locos running. I bought many new Locos from Hattons and quite a few used cheap ones. I later started buying used Diesels and sadly neglected my Steamers. I am old enough to remember travelling on holiday by Steam Train in the late 50s and early 60s so they have a special place in my memories. I will be running more of my Steamers over the coming weeks after cleaning and servicing them. Thanks for watching and commenting its most appreciated. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hello, Paul, and thank you for showing these beauties. Someone, a fellow Romanian modelist, said very nice that ”the steam locomotives are poetry in motion” - and yours are successfully imbued by this metaphor. I hope we will see them more often running. Nice evening there, best wishes! / Chris

Hi Chris, My layout was planned around the Steam era of the 50s and 60s so Steam Locos were the chosen models. I then started collecting Diesels and the steamers were not run so much. Thats true, the connecting rods and valve gears of a steam loco are indeed poetry in motion. I will be running more of my Steamers over the coming weeks. Have a great week. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hi Paul that was a lovely running session! I too am gutted Hattons have gone,i haven't purchased anything since they announced they were closing.I did bid on a Lima HST the other day, last year you could pick them up with 3 coaches for around £50-£60,now i half decent set like this is over £100. P.S as we say in East Anglia 'the landy is still on the huh buh' :) Cheers Paul have a great week.

Hi Michael, I am glad I bought the majority of my new Locos and other items from Hattons over 12 years ago. They provided a great service and the prices at the time were quite competative. I have neglected my Steamers so decided to service them one by one and give them a run. More Steamers to follow over the coming weeks. I bought a job lot of Roco Wagons at an amazing price so will feature them mid week. You have a great week as well. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hi James good to hear you enjoyed watching this video. I will be running my Steamers on Sundays untill they have all been featured. I am servicing each one before they are run to make sure they are reliable as many have been on the shelf for quite some time. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏

Hi Paul, you have quite a collection of steamers there mate. I have Bibi line laying around somewhere. One of my favourites. Actually i have a dozen or so Bulleid Pacifics, i went through a phase of just collecting them. I like the way they run. I think i have a 9f. It's a Hornby Dublo, but it's not quite as smooth as your 8f. I got my brother to take my Jinty wheelset down with his lathe, runs really smoothly with the original motor. But yours is silent, wouldn't know it was running. I have only had one set of wheels put on the lathe, he told me to come out and do the rest myself. The non insulated wheels take a fair bit of convincing to separate from the axles. You need a high quality wheel puller with a bit of heat to get the material to expand just a touch. I'm worried if i do it myself I'll damage them. I have enough Serires 3 track to make a simple track plan, which i will probably end up doing. Steven.

Hi Steven, I really like the 4-6-2 Locos, the Merchant Navy Class is my favorite. I bought a number of new Steamers in 2011 and am glad I did when I look at the prices of them now. My 8F and 9F are superb runners and can run around my tighter curves better than some 0-6-0 Locos I have. I bought 2 new wheel sets for the modern 0-6-0 Jinties and fitted them in my old Hornby/Triang Chassis with Can motors and modified Pickups which improved the way they run. I bought a new Jinty a few years back from Hornby that had a plastic chassis, apart from the wheels the rest was rubbish. I will be showing more of my Steamers over the coming weeks, they are all being serviced as they have been on my shelf for ages. Its good you have the older track, it would be great to see more of your Steamers running as well. Cheers, Paul.👍👍🙏
