Elliott loved The Beatles! His catalog is full of harmonically complex songs. He truly was one of a kind. So great seeing you play through this track Tomo!

"If everything is correct, then everyone is the same. But if you can't do it, then you create something else; that's why you are so unique" That was such a beautiful and wise way to put it. Not everything has to be perfectly done, not all your artistic creations have to follow the rules and theory by the book, if you do something different or not "correct" by the standards of what everyone thinks is normal, that doesn't mean it's wrong. It's unique. It's because you did it your way. Thank you so much for this, Mr. Fujita!

Thanks so much for sharing! I hate to be "Perfect" or "Correct" We are humans so a little mistakes & wrong notes are more special! This way I don't need to have any pride! More fun! Thank you so much!

it was awesome to see his music analyzed in a way that doesn’t get too focused on playing it exactly the way he did. there is definitely value in learning how to play complex parts the way that they were originally played, but I’ve been trying to be better about learning what is actually happening instead of just how to make my fingers play the music

I loved this video! I just came across your channel thanks to a video I saw recently by @MartyMusic one of my fave online teachers. I’ve spent the past weekend scouring through your videos. I love your approach. I really appreciate that you tell viewers to write stuff down in a notebook. And I was totally affirmed when I saw you playing an Orangewood guitar in this video. I have one and I encouraged my son to get one. I’ve only been playing for the past five years and I feel like I’ve come across your channel at just the right time in my guitar learning journey. Keep being awesome.

Thank you! One of my favorite artists. Memory lane is really fun too :) elliott smith often played bass notes with his thumb while strumming with his fingers to make a full sound (almost like travis picking but not quite). He also chewed his nails, so he gets less attack on the strings.

Elliott played this in an altered ‘C’ based tuning, not standard. E string drops to C, A string drops to G, B goes down to G.

Hey Tomo I'm not sure if you're familiar with Vince Guaraldi but he was a GREAT American jazz composer and he wrote all the vintage Charlie Brown music including the iconic Peanuts theme. He also wrote this GREAT piece called The Great Pumpkin Waltz and it's AMAZING and I bet you AND your audience would love it. I'd love to see you break that down and it's in perfect time for Halloween!

thanks, i’m working on this song “Ballod of Bog Nothing) it’s a real challenge for me at my level, but you are huge help . I’m new to the number system and it makes so much sense, it’s cool that you can know the major and minor chords in a progression just from its place in the scale. When you are a beginner they just tell you whole step whole step half step whole step whole step whole step whole step half step , there is a lot more information there than i knew and you add simplicity to it with your approach , I know you you have some very notable students and i’m happy to learn from you, even though im in no way worthy! thanks a bunch !
