Fyi there were 12 Battles of the Isonzo over the space of two years where the Italians attacked the same Austro Hungarian positions 11 consecutive times. All of the battles the Italians either lost, gained insignificant territory or the result was considered inconclusive while incurring about 1 million Italian casualties... only for all the gains of the past 2 and a half years to be completely reversed in the space of 2 weeks when a joint German Austro Hungarian counter offensive at the 12th Battle of the Isonzo completely demolished the Italian Army and almost led to the defeat of Italy itself. WW1 is known for the incompetence of its generals but Italian Marshal Luigi Cadorna who was infamous for the abuse of his men and habitually throwing them in frontal assaults has the dubious honour of being labelled the worst general of the entire war because of this.

Yea his replacement though Armano Diaz was able to salvage the efforts at Monte Grappa then in basically 2 decisive battles the battle of the Piave river his couter attack near Vittorio Veneto ended the war on the austrian front while also securing the dissolution of the austro-hungarian empire I belive he also really developed and solidified the use of light infantry tactics in the italian army it also shows in the amount of casualties he took in his counter attack at Vittorio Veneto Diaz’s mostly italian force lost 40,000 men compared to 528,000 losses on the austro-hungarian side. He also was a proponent of using armoured cars heavily as it made more sense than tanks

This game doesn't even touch on the fact that the winters were so harsh that both sides used heaters and tossed "Heating" bricks into portable stoves to heat them then toss them into woolen sheets, of which issued to soldiers to sleep with otherwise there body temp would kill them at night within an hour of passing out, it does introduce you to the hells of the Mountain Campaign. A lot of soldiers actually died on watch frozen to death, due to how hard it is to identify where soldiers died in this condition they have several thousands of men frozen in there position. this story was found and helped define Sabaton's Song "White Friday". And there are several cases of soldiers lost in storms up there later on, receiving help from shadowy figures in the mountains, guiding them back to safe spaces from WW1 or back to the trails that were made after the war. The most haunting part is the fact they are so well frozen that they are almost perfectly preserved in there space, meaning if you do find one of these men, you'll find them in there kit as well. Both sides after the war had moments of men getting lost in storms only to be returned by some random soldier. This is where "Blood Mountain" gets the insane story about ghost soldiers saving lives as repent for the horrors they saw in war, waiting to receive warmth in the hellish cold. "White Friday, I'll take my, Stairway to heaven" "I'm sky-high, when I die, I'll be Immortal" "Forever, and ever, I will return too, blood-mountain, I am the soldier of Heaven" - "I saw the end of war, I saw the soldiers come and go, And I kept my watch forever!" "I saw many great men fell in the battles that were raging down bellow! I have Seen it all but none will hear my story!" "All of these years I have been Frozen in Time, I cried for spring to come, but here, winter remains" A haunting thing to think about since the story came to light when a set of hikers in that area deviated from the path prity early on and found a wooden embankment and found a Italian soldier frozen in his position, they went back to the trail and reported it and it made a big deal for a bit as the body could be returned home (this was in 2007, where as the body would have been there since 1916 roughly). "A soldier in his unfortunate resting in his dugout hole, returning home finally" a justice many a person wished for of the many that fell in WW1, ever single body recovered is 1 closer to honoring the reality for those represented of the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier"

Don't be that guy. This was a well documented event during WW1 hense why I said "some level of historical accuracy" because obviously this battle wasn't 16 v 16 with respawns now was it. In reality the sheer cliff face of the Marmolada reached over 3000 meters, not a measly 200 but that wouldn't make for a very fun video game would it. Point being is that this is an aspect of WW1 that has never been depicted in a video game before now.
