Looks like backhand becoming the dominant and more import side in the modern game (both men and women). Seriously, if you look at most of the top matches the percentage of is strongly in favor of backhand over forehand. And forehand is used to finish up the points when the advantage is already on your side.

The style that is most popular right now is close-table attack. Close to the table, BH is quicker to set up with less preparation and less footwork than FH. At the top level, a player's a BH is basically as strong their FH so it's easy to see why more players are focusing more heavily on BH nowadays.

Harimoto looked like he had trouble handling Falck's receive with his pips. Also, when Harimoto opens a little bit slowly on 3rd or 5th ball, it gets countered back very fast by Falck.

Raleigh Al it’s common sense and the common approach as well. You can’t just go into a competition without preparing for any specific opponents unless u plan to lose. Each player has its own strength and weakness, look at how easily TH overcame LJK (4-0). Not to mention that LJK is overall a better player than Mattias, but TH lost 3-4. There is something in Mattias that TH is definitely not ready for, look at how uncomfortable he was throughout the match!

lol at the people saying Harimoto is done, "easy to predict" or can't win european players. The kid is freaking 15y old, lost 4-3 in a quarter final of 1 of the biggest tournaments. He just won against one of the best players in China right now, & most importantly, he is mentally the toughest player next to Ma Long in the whole circuit. If he doesn't get any injuries, he is gonna be on top for a longtime with that talent, fighter spirit & work ethic. 1 of a kind.

@@pacodado1944 I don't think he underestimated Falck. Falck is a dangerous player with his spiny backhand and powerful forehand. Short pimps is a risky game but on a good day it's possible to beat anyone. Next time it could very well be 4-0 for Harimoto if Falck is not consistent enough. That's the beauty of his game, he could potentially beat anyone and he has showed this through this tournament already. It's just not sustainable like the playing style of a Ma Long, Lin, Harimoto, Boll, Calderano,..
