Bless you for your very flattering comment. This is a very beautiful song (among many, many fabulous Dylan songs) and I certainly don't think it a horrible thing to say; music appreciation is a wonderful human gift we can all enjoy in our individual ways. My personal stance is that only Dylan captures the real magic of Dylan songs. However, I have been privileged to hear first-hand some wonderful interpretations of his songs from a number of performers.

One of Dylan's great songs. Great memories of a love I lost. Your version is truly superb.

Thanks so much for posting this. Not only is your "style" elegant, smoothe, and beautiful, but the soul of the song comes through in the way you move through the chords... or should I say, the way the chords move through you! Many blessings!

Bob Dylan has always been one of my favorites. I've been going through some personal issues, and of all the weird things, decided to watch The Walking Dead for the first time ever in my life, & saw the last episode of season 1. This song is at the end as most know, and it followed a personal justification to an easy reason for a reason why I am still here today. Thanks to this song, and thanks to the character, Dale, to help push me through this trying time. Thank you for the beauty of this song

Thankyou for sticking so close to Bob Dylans version, nicely done. I was trying to find the original on here as I was getting this craving for this song and you were my best bet. You did this really well. Thankyou.

Thank you very much. I have a very long list of requests for many songs (especially Dylan songs) and my time is limited unfortunately. The playing technique is basically the same as "Don't Think Twice" - though this song is much easier to play of course! If you follow my videos on how to play "DTT" you should be able to play this and many other fingerstyle songs using "C" chords. If I can find time I will do a tutorial on this song. Good luck!

Honestly fuckin love your channel. I’ve learnt so much from you; you’re the only teacher that seems to accurately capture the stripped back style of Dylan’s playing. Your the greatest performer of his songs on KZbin. I find everyone else really tries to “perform” his songs and end up overselling them, but I listen to your covers and I feel like you could have wrote them. Absolutely incredible mate

It's a Bb harp by Tombo (Lee Oskar) - played straight. It's worth having one in your collection as it's a great sounding harp played in both straight and cross-harp (blues) style. Songs played in "F" can be accompanied using a Bb harmonica.

Thank you very much for listening.... I love the song because of the genuine heartache that Bob Dylan conveyed when he sang this back in 1963. All I can do is try to add some of the expression, but (for me) there is only one true version of this song. I am mightily flattered though that you think it's a great cover.

Thank you - the picking is very similar (though easier to play) to "Don't Think Twice"; the main difference is that the Bass strings picked are always 6th and 4th. I'll try to find time to do a "How to" on this song as well though.

@Sheepydavis The chord I think you refer to (D7) is played for the 1st time at 00:26 - "If tomorrow (D7) wasn't such a long (G) time" using my thumb to fret the 6th string at the 2nd fret. The other fretted notes are 2nd on the 3rd string, 1st on the 2nd string and 3rd on the 1st string. Good luck!

This is one of my all-time favourite Dylan songs and I've sung it many many times over the last 50 years or so, but I don't think I've ever managed to play/sing it quite like I did on this video; funny how everything seems to come together but can't ever be repeated exactly the same way.

Takes me back to me teens, in state of mysterious mesmerization! I am checking in actually to share this: Pack Up Your Sorrows (a upbeat potentially comforting blue-grassy tune) by Richard George Fariña (March 8, 1937 - April 30, 1966) -- an American writer and folksinger. Hope you are taking very good care, Jim -- and planning' that cruise! Haha
