How good is a tutorial aimed at people that can already play guitar!? Just gets to the important, tricky bits. Not 50 sections note by note. Very refreshing

Thanks for the time notations. I keep going back to parts of this. I'm working on learning this as my first full fingerpicking song. I think once I can do this one well, I can learn anything. It seemed almost impossible at first, but now it just seems hard. Josh plays so cleanly!

Dude this has helped so much. Anybody who was trying to finger pick based on ear and feeling, I would recommend following what Josh says here is the oldest trick in the book. It does the work for you. Still working on all those walk downs. I feel that high e string G7 hammer on and pull off and the one in the F (shapes) are most important. Anyway, thanks again for this!

Josh has been blessed with guitar fingers - long and skinny - that makes possible those thumb wraps to press down the low bass E string. For those of us with short fingers the thumb wrap - well, you get the idea. Also, if you are playing a wide neck guitar such as a nylon string classical style guitar it makes the thumb wrap even harder. Maybe someday I'll try to engineer and market some finger extensions but until then trying to substitute a full barre chord is the only solution I have to offer.

Hey Josh, Been watching your videos for a couple of years and just impressed with your skill in playing and now finally you are showing us how to play. I hope that you can make the time to continue this or maybe even start an online course although I am quit sure that you could make a ton of money professionaly playing rather than teaching and am sure many others really appreciate your teaching us as you are by far the best I have seen here on you tube. Thanks for this video, by the way this is my favorite Dylan song. Dale

Listen to you guys an awefull lot lately from the netherlands. I consider myself a good guitar player.. but damn Josh you are just a natural. It took me 2 weeks of 1-2 hours of practicing each day before i managed to play this song. But i would not have been able to figure your version out without this tutorial! thanks for the post. And keep it u. Now im ready to learn your version of Eleanor Rigby I have seen some posts from people who think Josh doesn't do well at teaching / making the turotials, and going to fast. I have something to say about that. This is a hard song to learn how to play. And i think this turorial is perfect for people who actually have the skill and speed to even consider trying to play this. If you could not follow and felt like it went to fast or should be cut in more pieces, then you simply are not ready to play this song yet. You might want to consider something like dust in the wind as a step to get yourself ready for Josh his version of Dont think twice, it's alright.

It's not very difficult...BUT it is difficult to play it WELL with the refinements...I practice the chords....then practice the picking...taking me long time to be consistent at picking...then putting it together...then learn the refinements like the bass walking.....Learning the picking well will go a long way in learning the Boxer....I remember when the original came out about 1963 tried to play it then but I did not know how to finger pick...Now I do.....Thanks for passing it on
