Great Video Tom, pro tip: don't put oil into the brake drum, it will ruin the brake shoe and won't brake anymore.

This is a great point! I’ll stick to cows🤦♂️
@archiecairns27312 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom. That squeak could be binding brake - rusty linkage causing the brake to bind. A big NO NO to squirt oil into the brake drum. If you have to do an emergency stop with a full tanker, in-effect you'll have no brakes if that oil gets on your brake shoes. Pull the drum off ASAP and inspect the brakes and the wheel bearing, that's another possible cause for the squeak.

Id say there is a small stone stuck in the groove of the lollipop plate. Happens to me a lot when emptying the collecting yard tank. Open the lollipop and run a small screwdriver or nail around in the track to get it out
@richardmcgrath60652 жыл бұрын
Tom adjust the center treaded bar in the lolly pop, the spring needs to be tension more. Also clen the bottom of the lollipop of grit with a screw driver or nail when it's open.
@bryanbuckley92642 жыл бұрын
Tom let the pressure build up while filling the open the lollipop it should suck in what's blocking the lollipop. Or when it's open run screw driver around the Grove. It's long enough but there's fibers blocking it 👍

Question Tom...have you considered a 'biogas' operation? I recently toured a dairy farm in Massachusetts with a biogas setup and WOW, what an operation. This farm has 70+ milkers and all their muck and feed residuals plus outside food wastes are 'fed' into the bioreactor. The methane generated runs both a 300 KWh and 500 KWh generator connected to the power grid producing enough electricity for 1600 house], plus the heated water provides hot water to the dairy operation [including heating the concrete floors and barns where the cows are kept] and eight homes. The bioreactor 'residuals' - both liquid and solids - are put back on their grass and crop fields. I was told they cut their fertilizer and pesticide costs by 90+ percent with proof in their record keeping. It's truly a closed loop operation. I'm currently investigating using such a biogas setup for my livestock operation. Seems to me to be a sound investment with 'solid' annual income revenue streams. Enjoyed the video! Cheers...

Hi Tom looking at your dribble bar right-hand side when you are filming with your Drone it's not working. The end off you tanker if may be just really small stones around the seal that's not making it shut properly as you no if you use the pipe sucking slurry in it could be the reason for not sealing mate

Probably stones in your lolly pop in the bottom of the groove preventing it to shut. Have you tried keeping suction pipe out of the bottom of the pit? I always used to try have it near the top of the pit as you'd always be sucking up the debris that settles on the bottom all the time 👍

Look into solar and wind power options for your farm. Your barns could have lot of solar panels on even leaving the light panels in. There is a French company who have a wind turbines in the shape of a tree.... each one can generate 10kw each and aren't too big either but each tree can cost up to €40k. Because they are vertical helix style turbines they work no matter what direction the wind is or how fast the wind is blowing..... they work at much lower speeds. Something to consider at least. Yes its an upfront cost but it would save you money going forward reducing your monthly overheads making your farm more profitable
