I really noticed how much effort you have put into this video. Like travelling to the same places as the Casey clips you used. It takes a long time to plan and execute a video like this. Awesome Tom!

Comments like yours make it worth all the effort ☺️👌🏻 Thanks for noticing and thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻🙏🏻

People overcomplicate story so much. Casey's example of a story is literally just 1) what he did before Steve-O's podcast, 2) Steve-O's podcast, 3) what he did after Steve-O's podcast.
@MrWokyman10 ай бұрын
I saw a great example of this when someone interviewed him. They asked multiple times why he dropped in a bit of music at a particular point, they were seemingly fixated on 'understanding' this, like there was a magic formula to it. Something like that comes down to feel, and intuition. Yes, you could delve into the technicalities of it, but Casey and many others don't work like that.
@melie305410 ай бұрын
@@MrWokymanlol I know exactly which interview you’re taking about. That stood out to me too how they were pushing so much into that when reviewing just the intro part of his video so far. But I thought also that the interviewer was just really overly passionate and fangirl-y. I noticed he was like that in another interview of a creator too.
@cheflev98845 ай бұрын
I just discovered Casey, literally from that interview mentioned in the comments. Yes the story structure is that simple. It’s a formula. But saying that’s all it is, nothing more, isn’t correct. Casey is a natural and he struggled to answer those questions because he never even thought about it.

- 0:00 🎬 Casey Neistat's storytelling techniques are highlighted in a clip from his podcast with Steve-O. - 0:14 📝 Casey uses the three-act structure: beginning, middle, end, with nuances that enhance storytelling. - 1:31 🎭 Casey integrates conflict within acts, adding obstacles to make stories engaging. - 3:01 🎥 Casey's filming techniques include handheld shots, tripod shots, and establishing shots. - 4:04 🌍 Establishing shots show location, while tripod shots focus on content, and handheld shots add spontaneity. - 4:47 🎬 Combining different filming techniques in a sequence keeps the audience engaged. - 6:11 🔗 Transitions are crucial for connecting acts; they can be anything that fits the story. - 8:39 📚 Casey has released a course on his storytelling techniques, with more content to come.

Well done video. Hard to believe it was about 7+ years ago when Casey was doing all his vlogs. I got hooked and watched them all...really wanted to start a channel. I worked on the sequences a bit, and did a couple random vlogs (no planned structure), and realized how much work it was. I recently signed up for his course, waiting for it to start in a week or so. I've started watching several of his old vlogs to be reminded of his style and how much joy they bring watching them. I'd love to bring that to people in my own videos. Anyway, I just stumbled on you with this video and subscribed....great quality and I love the details you put into this. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Excellent analysis and beautifully shot, guys. Thank you! I’m sure many will find this very useful, even though Casey is now running his own film-making course, as you said. I definitely hope to watch more of yours, despite this. You also got so many examples of Casey’s style in there, like even smaller details, such as his farewell to a person and the accompanying hand gesture. I started making notes to possibly apply these techniques in the near future.
