Unless very high ground clearance, anything with a turbo diesel or turbo petrol should not enter water….the intake is likely low down and will suck the water straight in. Which is why in some clips we see bigger vehicles get stuck when the water is barely upto the bumper.

I expect it's an electric handbrake, so when the car died the electrics did too and it couldn't be taken off. A lot of BMW's have them, and many newer cars

need the car on to get it out of gear if it died in drive. that's why nearly every automatic transmission car ever has an emergency release somewhere underneath the car. But yes, its the fault of the BMW driver not having the sense to magic his car out of gear, not the internet warriors that don't know basic mechanics.
@Jabbers_018 ай бұрын
The BMW F30 (3 series) has a manual handbrake. It locks into park automatically when the engine turns off. Outside of a manual release there is no way to put it into neutral with the ignition off. This is a common on all BMW ZF8 gearboxes. The F30 has a manual release under the car.

When there's that much of standing water...why do people assume their cars are able to go through....a engine needs a clean air filter to work plus so many cars need electricity to supply the modulators and everything else...

So how do you go about repairing your car after being flooded like the 1 Series BMW was at 2:20? I dont so much mean the engine but rather the interior of the car? All the dash electronics will be ruined and How do you dry it out and not get left with a damp/mould smell???
@eliz_scubavn8 ай бұрын
I’d hazard a guess that it’s probably going to be an insurance write off unless you’ve got a serious emotional attachment to the car and a very good bank account balance. You’d be looking at the minimum at a complete new engine and rewire as well as a complete refurbishment of the inside. Plus in a lot of cases the insurance companies could count you entering an obviously too deep ford as deliberate recklessness and not cover you anyway.
@stevenmoran40608 ай бұрын
Why do people help and pull out a very dead car that will be written off instantly by insurance? Just before they then get told you aren’t covered for deliberately drowning your car.

Most important as a car owner (the more expensive the car - the better): To be creative. Be ready to invent the wheel once more! In this context, that means: Try whether you are the first one showing that wading in your unprepared car works! Try to show that you are the first one who can ignore physiscs! I trust in your skills and braveness. You will become a hero!

Why nobody remove air filter after engine stop?. With a wet filter, 0 air is flowing for the combustion... they have to remove it. And let the engine work some time in idle to evaporate all water
