@@carvinlambert6899 thank you. Glad to help. That explosion made quite a mess on my camera. I sometimes still jump when I watch that part of the video 😂 Doing this myself saved a lot of time and money. If you have that much air, it indicates you have bad seals or pitting on your trim rams. Give them a good once over. Also, when bleeding the air don’t take the screw all the way out you just need to take it to the end let the air out, then screw it back in repeat process about 10 or 15 times, then refill till it blows over
@TomyTekOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up. This happened right after I had my motor serviced. I was told that they topped off my trim fluid. I don't think they bleed it properly if at all. They did mention replacing the seals soon. It's worked great after bleeding it. I was a little disappointed with my mechanic. They have been great over the years, but this oversight set me back on time. I could have taken it back, but I didn't want to wait while fishing was great.
@broderickwhitaker6666 Жыл бұрын
You turn the screwdriver clockwise to de-pressurize the power trim. Turning counterclockwise closes the system. That is why you were getting pressure all at once when you removed the plug.

Any advice for if the outboard can tilt all the way up and then 85% down but if it goes past that is wont trim back up?
@TomyTekOutdoors8 ай бұрын
This sounds similar to the problem I had. When I manually lifted it, the trim would kind of work until a certain point. There was air in my system. Bleeding out fixed the problem.

One guy I watched said to leave the screw out when you go up and down to let the air out that way you’re actually working air out of it and you feel it each time you go up and down
@TomyTekOutdoors3 ай бұрын
Does he show this in the video? Can you share the video link? If you leave the screw out, all of the fluid would leak out. It would probably squirt out and make a mess everywhere when you go up and down.

Won't the new fluid just leak out like the old fluid did?
@TomyTekOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The fluid would leak out if the seals are bad. My mechanic said that we should address the seals soon, but they were ok. He said they topped off the fluid in my last service, but there was a lot air in the fluid. That's what caused it to stop working. Once I took care of that, it's worked great every since. I could have taken it to my mechanic to fix this problem, but I didn't want my boat to be in the shop during prime fishing.

This could be an indicator that your seals could be leaking. My mechanic said they checked my fluid and topped it off. I'm guessing they didn't bleed my fluid. They told me my seals were ok, but should be replaced soon.

Bubba. Best of wish's and all but this is not good boat tech.. It had a leak is why it lost fluid. Period.. They dont burn fluid and dont need bled.. You have a bad seal or seals... 25 years as a boat mechanic
@TomyTekOutdoors7 ай бұрын
I appreciate your input. That really sucks because I was told differently from my mechanic at the time. They told me that they checked my fluid and that my seals were ok, but should be changed soon. They were a highly recommended mechanic as well and have been great to me for several years. After this fix, it worked flawlessly for several months, but I sold the boat. I have a Suzuki outboard now and will be using a different mechanic, since they don't service Suzuki.
