I have an Ironman II and it's a great piece of equipment. Reactive loads are the way to go. If you have a resistor attenuator you'll know what I mean. The Ironman II is really built like a tank. I was surprised how heavy it is. Bonus that the Boost is activated by a footswitch. Nice touch. Overall this is a great attenuator that is worth the money. You get what you pay for.

I 100% agree, you really do get what you pay for. It isn't even close between this and the less expensive attenuators on the market.

Thanks for the review and your thoughts.Quality of attention for quiet practice and the ability to match ohms were the biggest selling points for me. Just ordered one.

Excellent review and demo. After looking at quite a few Attenuators, you hit the nail on the head.....most other attenuators DO NOT offer multiple impedance settings; you have to choose a specific impedance at time of purchase. I have two amps....one is 8 ohm and the other is 16 ohm. With the Iron man II, I can use it with both amps. Lastly, the Iron Man is a REACTIVE attenuator vs. RESISTIVE. You pointed out the huge difference in "feel" as you play and engage the attenuator. Reactive units provide a much better quality tone so I'm not even considering a Resistive unit. I think your video made up my mind on which unit to get.....and it's the Tone King Iron Man II. Thanks again!

Hi! I have the Ironman and is amazing. Do you try the emulated cab xlr out or the jack line out with a IR loader like the cab m or the new opus? Thanks

Been debating between buying an attenuator or a new tube amp, and i honestly need one of these first. I was hesitant because none of the other options you mentioned aside from the Fryette seemed to check off all the boxes. Gonna pick up the next used one i find.

Thanks Paul, I think there are a lot of great options out there but if strictly attenuation is the selling point there's nothing that beats this that I've used.

Superb video and I love how you talked about the alternatives that are available. Every single one you mentioned I have considered, but I’ve arrived at the Iron Man ii as the one I want to get. Keep up the good work!

Love this channel. Great playing as always, riffs and melodies you won’t find anywhere else. For the money I’d go with the Fryette PS-2a, but the Ironman kicks butt too.

Latin music is huge there, lots of cover bands, many great venues, it's most definitely more lively than it is here on the opposite coast.

Great video and summary of the features! I agree with your comments on the Captor X vs. the Ironman II. I had the Captor X and liked it, but the limited attenuation options was an issue for me, along with the unit and software was not the most seamless experience. I had connection issues and ended up deciding that I would not use the IR feature enough to justify keeping it. I use Logic pro and an M2, which I can use for any IR's and recording. I just got a Marshall SV20C and the Ironman II works great with the plexi setup.

That's a really solid signal flow, and you picked one hell of an amp. I would love one of those at some point, it's a monster.

@@AudiomoMusic Thanks man! Being able to jumper the 4 inputs gives a wide range of sounds and the Ironman makes is possible at home. On another note, I loved your Orange OR15 buy back video as well. I have one too and love it. Keep up the good work!

I agree about the Captor X. I was surprised at how little I cared for the tone considering all the KZbins raving about it. I have an IronMan on the way, on sale for Black Friday even.

Interesting video. I bought one used on reverb 6 months ago to go with my Matchless mini SC. Still I find that the sound is a bit muffled after 2 clicks only… have you noticed some treeble lost ?

I notice it when I get to 3, but it's nothing that I can't make up for via the amp eq itself.

I've owned all the attenuators out there, the IronMan is the one that sucks less tone. I have tons of videos on this on my channel if you wanna check it out. Want best recording? Get the Ox. Want best tone? Get the IronMan. Want most features? Get the Waza Tube Expander. Want the overall gigging workhorse? Get the Powerstation.

Do that unit is as sensitive as the captor x (input clipping) at a very low amp setting?
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic 10 ай бұрын
I returned the captor x within 30 min of use because the attenuator was useless and I also had that clipping happening. I've had no problems with this one and it will work with any amp head regardless of OHM output so you don't have to pick between 8/16 and can mix and match speakers.

If you have an amp with a master volume is an attenuator still worth it?
@MS-Patriot2
@MS-Patriot2 Жыл бұрын
I would say yes, the power amp provides a lot of feel and character to your tone. If the preamp is being smoked but the power amp is barely awake you get a really squashed tone. Try turning the pre gain down and open up the master volume and the tone will take on a whole new character but you’ll need the attenuator to appreciate at a moderate dB level.

Would be more useful if they added a loop to it. Too many amps don't have one.
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic 6 ай бұрын
I can see why some people want that, but I have always run my effects in front of the amp so it's not really a deal breaker at all.

difference between the TK mini and the TK?
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Жыл бұрын
Pretty substantial actually, the mini only works with 8ohm amps and up to 30 watts. You can't mix match impedences on the mini meaning you are only going to be able to use 8ohm cabs with it as well. It all depends how many amps/cabs you have and what their impedences are whether or not that will matter to you, but I would just prefer to buy the one that will work with everything I already have and everything I could buy later than something that is fairly limited.

Agree. Some would say the OX is worth the $1k difference with multiple effects, reverbs, cabs, mics and ohms. For me and many as bedroom players, I only have one cab and one amp.@@AudiomoMusic

so long as your amp and cab are 8 ohm then you have an easy choice to make, it really is worth the price of admission.

Yeah, right, Mr. Businessman. 🙄 Ever heard of overhead? There are a lot of hidden costs in producing a product, marketing it, packaging it, selling it, shipping it, insuring your business, paying your employees benefits, etc. That's why you can make a cheap one but businesses can't sell one for that price. And oh, I forgot profit, which is typically 50% of the price. No one would make anything if there wasn't enough profit in it. The whole thing is a lot more complicated than you seem to realize.
