Tasteful, not rushed. Too many players feel like they must be super fast to be great. Nick Johnston has something to say musically. The melody is first , then the phrasing accompanied by flashes of pinpoint accuracy for emphasis. He makes you listen for what is next. A lot to say musically. Outstanding Mr. Johnston. Got this brother playing again!

THANK YOU, MESA, for posting this video, literally my _very_ first exposure to Nick Johnston-maybe two months ago, and now I'm searching for more. I've since bought the two physical CDs still available... PHEW! SOOO highly recommended! Those CDs are in constant action lately. Nice to find so many NJ-related videos on YT as well. My main question, being so late to the party, is: Where the heck has this guy been, and why have I not heard of him before? I've since discovered that his career goes back several years. Jeez... I subscribe to GP, GW, Guitarist (UK), Premier Gtr... and I don't recall ever seeing even his name, let alone an article. Is it because he's Canadian? (Seriously... Max Webster or Kim Mitchell anyone? Look 'em up!) Definitely, Nick Johnston is one _musician_ deserving of a LOT more recognition! And, by the way, what a great amp that is. I'm already looking into how to manage one sometime soon. Great demo! *EDIT* (to answer myself!): Weird coincidence. I just got the newest issue of Guitar World (Hendrix cover), and guess what I discovered? A 2-page article on Nick Johnston!

Mesa amps really bring out the features of the guitar itself. Nick Johnston and Andy Timmons use the guitars volume knob and pickup selector to great effect to say the least. The Mesa amplifiers that they have given demos of not only bring out the guitars usable features, but highlight the amps touch sensitivities and responsiveness that make every note sing and be heard. I have not had the pleasure of owning a Mesa as of yet, but I'm working on it. These amps are made to inspire and create great music. Mesa does it like no other. Keep it going Mesa!

Many thanks fore the kind words, Mark and so glad that you have picked up on the dynamics and touch/volume sensitivity stuff we're trying to showcase here. A few players use this technique and it provides such an amazing palette of tonal variations to express yourself with, we hope it leads to more people experiementing with the style. Especially when the amp is well suited to playing nice with the volume of your guitar, it's a really great way to vary your tone and expression of your music. Thanks for watching and thanks for your interest! Let us know when you get that first Boogie! :)

Go for the 25 - the 35 could also be fine, but if purely for home/lower volume use, 25 is PLENTY. Hope this helps!
@mesaboogie
@mesaboogie 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Smitty - good question. The Mark Five: 35 can ALSO be switched down to 10 watts, which, if you compare the two amps side by side in this setting, you MIGHT notice that the MK35 is a little bit stiffer and slightly louder at the same settings. You can also turn the MK35 down a tiny bit on the Master and the amps might sound almost identical. Shorter answer, the amps sound WAY more similar than different and you can probably make them sound exactly the same with slight settings changes. Hope this helps.

Schecter was one of the first brand to build custom strat, Tom Anderson used to work for Schecter in the early 80's and after Dave Schecter sold the company, Tom continued to build pick up for the new owner in the first years. Mark Knofpler, Steve Lukather and also Dan Huff used Schecter strat for some period.

Everybody knows that we are always lacking something. When you've got THE amp you always finally want something more. e.g I owned à mark V but was not convinced of the crunch channel which was super cold in spite of hotter rebias and running lower wattage. The lead channel was also pretty disppointing, it lacked gain. Then I purchased a Mark IV, it sounds really killer... Or more precisely the lead ch. Sounds killer and the clean is really nice..but it lacks à solo function, the crunch is à bit cold, and the global reliability is poor ("A" version with PCB that becomes conductive at some hot spots). I owned also a studio preamp that lacks flexibility and was f***** hard to dial in properly but had great cleans and super tight rythm tones. The triaxis has incredible control possibilities but as usual Mesa exagerates when they say they put mark IV and IIC+ circuits inside. The real mark IV sounds way better (compared with the same Power section) than its mode inside the Triaxis, and the 2C sounds the same but skinnier because mesa used the same circuit with à slightly different EQ to make think it is tighter.

This is what i'd be buying if I were in the market today. Their EL84 amps will TRUELY let you sound as good as anything you've ever heard on a major album, regardless of your guitar.
