This is a great demo using toned paper. Seeing you, Ohn Mar, go from the value study to the color version was immensely helpful. Thanks!!

Hi Eva Glad it was helpful! Now that I’ve done one spread like this, I’d like to complete the rest of the sketchbook, where I do a tone study than a colour version. I’m sure that will really give me a lot of satisfaction.

I’d always been tempted by tanned paper but never knew how I’d use them. I can’t believe I’ve never seen anyone use black and white linework to fill it? That’s a fantastic idea, it looks so good! 😮😍

It’s quite an old art school technique. I agree it’s not often seen these days.

These are so beautiful!!! The fruit and verges are great but the sea life has a lot more energy and expressive qualities. All are awesome! I can the the fruit on a juice bottle packaging! The garlic and bananas are incredible and have a lot of life to them!

Im in love the way you do studies! Never , ever seen something so simple yet important!!!❤ I remember doing those studies and hate them with passion but the way you mede me see that middle tone. Today I discovered your channel and I can’t get enough of it! Thank you! ❤

It seems like such an underrated exercise, yet, it has truly elevated my art in recent times. And yes, in my day as an art student, it was charcoal and chalk, which I hated. Using pens is so hasslefree.

Finished pieces are great to look at but I really enjoy seeing the deep, luscious studies artists create behind the veil of social media. Thank you for sharing 🥰 I made a toned sketchbook out of paper grocery bags lol. Going to use your guidance while working in it.

@@OhnMarWinArt the inspiration hit with the black and white studies on toned paper. I have a gorgeous sketchbook with toned paper I got as a gift a while ago and have been telling myself it's "too good to use" which I know is silly :)

These are gorgeous! I love using toned paper, use it all the time, but I do struggle a bit with tonal studies like this. Something about this video, though, clicked for me. I love those brush pens, but the posca is genius! I did have a white brush pen, but it clogged really badly. Now I know what to do when I take my son on a playdate this afternoon!

Sorry Ohn Mar its 1.10am and I forgot to say how much I enjoyed your demo in the toned sketchbook. I got some gift cards to go to the art shop so I shall definitely be getting a white Posca pen, I already have a dark brown brush pen 😆 Thank you for all your hard work giving us demos and showing us your sketchbooks, just love it. You make it look so easy and its not at all.

Hi Ohn Mar! New subscriber here & I've been learning so much from your videos! Thank you for everything you share. Would you consider doing a Domestika course on mixed media sketching? I love being able to just pay per course on there and have it for life without paying a monthly or annual membership. I feel it's much more accessible. I've learned so many great techniques from you that I'm looking forward to experimenting with in my work. 💗

Thank you @Ohn Mar for sharing this class. The idea of a sketchbook snack is lovely!. Doing the same subject at different angles really develops your eye to see items in a more 3D perspective. I've been playing with brush strokes to see how minimally I can paint a subject. I try to just do a step and walk away to let it dry instead of overworking the painting. The results are quite surprising! QUESTION:: any tips on how to know when to stop and call a painting completed?
@OhnMarWinArt Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful -I am very interested to hear more about minimal brushstrokes. In order to your question, I think it's worth stopping a minute before you start thinking it's time to stop because you always think there's more to do and then the danger of overworking comes in.
