Dude, I can't thank you enough for this video! I've had my Kemper Toaster for 3 days (32 hours of that, just playing with it!), and the "kraftwerken" manual made no mention of "how to get to these parameters" (e.g. Sag...) which was the main reason I bought this. I don't learn well from videos (I'm a Technical Writer in my "day job", and as a Austrian, I recognize the "kraftwerken" mindset when I encounter it!), but by listening to you a couple of times, and then really eyeing the camera shots, I've found the mysteries I sought. Thanks again for the time and effort in creating this - it is much appreciated!

Good video mate, and I like your presentational style. I'm obviously really dumb but it hadn't even occurred to me that the top row is a visual left-to-right representation of the entire signal chain. Keep up the great work.

Jeff Lee - something worth mentioning. You can also save and name your stomps as a preset in the stomps section. this way you can save numerous combinations of fx and bring them up instantly for different profiles. The way to do this is to hold down the STOMPS button (in this screen you can also easily rearrange the order of your fx) and press store. you will then have a "STOMPS section" option press that button and name and save your preset, done. The way to recall this preset is to again HOLD the STOMPS button, and while in this screen turn the browse knob. you will see any saved STOMPS presets. This same process works for the EFFECTS section. This is a HUGE time saver. Hope that is helpful to people Cheers

Did you get one? I've been considering one for a while. My concern is that every time I invest in the latest tech, it goes obsolete, and ends up in my closet. My other concern is how repairable it is, and how long they will be manufacturing parts. I have some really nice tube amps. I would only get a Kemper for versatility on the fly. Being able to switch sounds quickly.

I'm a bit late to the party, but this vid really tamed my Kemper (beginner) learning curve with ease. This tutorial opened the door for plenty of tone/effect variations. This video saved an old analog dude a lot of grief. I purchased a used toaster and it has 80 Tone Junkie profiles, amongst others. There isn't a bad Tone Junkie profile, but there are some not-so-great ones in the remaining 440. I know that you were bummed about your TV not taking off, but peeps like me totally dig all that you do. Thanks again, man.. I very much appreciate it! Great guitar and really nice playing, btw...

You are exactly right saying we have never heard the actual amp sounds that we love because of the processing after them. Drums are even more processed than guitars. Modelling should have been the next evolution, but the Kemper is the real deal evolution. Personally, I would just buy profiles from the pro's. They KNOW how to mic up, use the BEST equipment and you are pretty much guaranteed to get a very convincing sounding amp, cab, effect etc. You will never need more than a dozen or so variations, but if you want to store 500, go ahead. The only Thing I am a peeved about with the Kemper is the cost of the dedicated foot board. You need this to access a lot of features, the looper to name a major one. But take a gamble, with this guy showing you the best way to get set up, you'll be leaving your big rigs at home and selling the van!!!

Just got myself a Kemper Stage, I've gotta say, after tons and tons of research, as well as you being the main force in my reasoning behind pulling the trigger on one of these. I got as ballsy when I got the Kemper to literally just get rid of my Blackstar that I was using. I initially was horrified, now that I've had it, I've never been happier with my sound. Waiting for a bit more cash and I will get the power Kabinet to pair with it to really add to the live stage sound or for jamming with friends when needed. But for me, the silent abilities this has into a daw is all I've ever asked for.

A great tutorial would be how you input the kemper to the DAW as it’s sometimes a mind field to newbies (I have reaper and a scarlet 18i8). It took me a while to get it sorted.
@ZachSmithMusic932 жыл бұрын
Simple. I literally just treat the XLR outs as mic outs. those go into my UA Volt, little of the on board compression, into in my case FL Studio, I select the Inputs for my Audio Interface, add some post EQ, sometimes a little extra compression and BOOM all done. Ready to jam to songs, record, be creative, whatever you desire.
@OzziePete15 жыл бұрын
21:00 In the case of players like Hendrix, what he played in the studio was for the tone - the recorded tone - and could well be nothing like what he played on stage - which was for projection and volume. Also, if Hendrix WAS using a cranked Marshall in the room in those days, the engineers would have been in 'survival' mode for their equipment and putting all sorts of compression and mike techniques to stop the sheer monstrous volume destroying the equipment. So the recorded tone would have been very mild compared to what they were hearing standing besides the amp in those circumstances..

Nice & informative vid, thanks. One thing I noticed about Kemper: it has a texture that is immediately recognisable, no matter what profile you're on. Maybe it's KZbin compression ? I don't pretend it's good or bad, it's just that from what I hear, there are big differences between a Vox, a Marshall, a Matchless etc. when you hear the real thing. On the Kemper as well, but one can hear it's played through a Kemper. My 2 cents…

My bro-in-law finally talked to me into going to a Kemper and I can honestly say, it's a revelation. It sounds like every recorded tone in my head I've always strived for. It's way easier to carry around, which means I take it home to practice more, which makes me a better player. And honestly, for home use and gig use, it just sounds better than my tube amps + micing + pedals. I know that's blasphemy but I don't miss the "amp in the room" sound at all. The ability to get an already processed, studio quality tone immediately is great. The Kemper delivers. Is it perfect? I guess not? But it's pretty darn close.

Great video, HW. My only critique would be in the (over)emphasis that the Kemper only captures and recreates the sound of a mic'd guitar amp/cabinet (Studio Profiles). As I am certain you are aware, one can use Direct Amp (or Merged) profiles, and connect the KPA directly to a traditional guitar cabinet, to achieve a fully authentic "amp-in-the-room" experience. Of course, this is easiest with a powered KPA. If you have a non-powered KPA, then one would still need a dedicated external amplifier...or simply use the FX Return of a guitar amp head or combo and then into the speaker.
@clintn66776 жыл бұрын
I use the effects return of my bass amp to my cab and the only difference I can tell between a my old amp and the profile of my old amp is the Kemper sounds better at any volume.
@ToneJunkieTV6 жыл бұрын
Good Point! I had studio profiles in my head because I was thinking of how it compares to the helix, etc. You're right the amp in the room experience is something the kemper does really well with a can and it's probably the best digital solution for running a real cab too!

I gotta say: today I got hold of an Orange Pedal Baby and plugged my Mesa 2x12 and Kemper into it and it just knocks the Kemper into the stratosphere. Forget FRFR cabs.
