sane here and I frankly don’t get all the hate on guitar and amp forums against Revv amps.

I've been playing for 20+yrs with no boost on a 1st gen Peavey 5150 and in 2020 I stumbled upon boosting amps with OD pedals and bought about 10+ pedals and like the tonal flavors you can get, but ultimately just still play my amps with no OD pedal, but that is just my taste and OD pedals are great for adding new tonal options! Each to there own \m/

Another Great Riffs & Responses video Jarrod! These are some of my favorite videos you do. 100% agree on the OD/Boost pedal comments you made.

thanks for Sunday bro. I put KT66 in my REVV 120 M3, it takes care of the problems plus it sound better to me. Bro I like using a OD pedal in front of the amp, I been using a boost for a long time.

We need more of your "random" playing, especially when you solo.... maybe shoot one of those Slayer chromatic scale solos. Maybe the guy from the beginning of the video will like it more. Keep doing this! You rock!

Hey Jarrod. Thanks a TON for the recommendation on the "In Ears". I was able to find the cable that talks about the Low and Mid frequencies being better so I bought those as well. Looking forward to rehearsal now to try them out once they get here. Thanks again 🙂

That Revv sounded incredible! Im a fan of the Mesa Mark series but based on this demo I would take the Revv every day! I think the JP would benefit from a different mic placement on the cab.

Boost is personal preference but I totally agree with Jared. Everyone likes different stuff but you can turn pedals on AND off. Sometimes I use it. Sometimes I don’t but I appreciate having the OPTION! Boosted amps inherently tighten up amps and cut mud and flub. Jared did a very useful video on eq pedals in loops too. I have owned 5 mark amps and have played with and without the od but I always had an overdrive on my board. You may not “need” to use it but it’s cool to have it and on my Jp2c I often use the yellow channel for rhythm with the treble high and shred mode on and I do not use od. When I switch to red for lead I do not use shred and I typically boost with gridslammer and use some delay and it is money. I respect other’s opinions but I see an od as a useful tool to help you sculpt your amp and make it more enjoyable to play and to give tonal options. All depends on what you like but I don’t like statements that say this is right or wrong or stupid or whatever. Use what you like but try different settings and pedals and you may be surprised what you find. Just because an amp costs 3,4, $5,000 or more it can still benefit from a boost. Long post but this guy knows what he is talking about and has one of the best no BS channels on here.

most of my high gain amps benefit from a clean OD boost and EQ pedal in the FX loop. Most metal players do this already for years.

Thank you so much for answering my question, man! You were absolutely right in respect to the "focus" thing on the Mark series. It absolutely sets the Marks apart. As I said I watched many videos of both amps and, from what I noticed, they are a little "mid based" both of them, but you were right on the money about the focus aspect. Once again thank you for answering! Wish you success and all the best! Cheers from Brazil!!

I have a Mesa Mark V and it is ok but a pain to dial in. Prefer Revv for the extra gain stages and features. Thinking of selling mine for a Revv. Also planning to sell off the Uberschall for a Diezel then good to go. Favorite three amps- Revv, Diezel, Mezzabarba so far.

Jarod why don’t you use the bridge pick-up I think it sounds awesome I can’t get enough of my majesty the bridge in the whammy bar is amazing question about the neck pick-up mine moves if I flip over the guitar it moves towards the strings and when I set it back to play the neck pick-up moves back down I can just tighten the two screws to the pick-up but it will sit to far away from the strings I would rather have the pick-up closer to the strings what should I do about my pick up and also on your majesty use the phyzoo pick-up whammy bar pick -up 87 rules

JP-2C has better raw rhythm channel for Revv sounds more refined and high fi sounding. If I was live band, the JP2C but for studio the Revv wins.

It's amazing how but hurt people get, when other people make decisions that are different than their own. people can be so rigid and but headed that it's absolutely hilarious. years ago when I was dirt-poor I used to play without a boost pedal. Basically because I couldn't afford to have a switcher that would change amp channels and switch in and out the boost at the touch of one button. Back then very few amps did what I needed and I had to work way too hard to get good tones from them without a boost. No one wants to do a tap-dance when they have to switch from distorted to clean sounds. the dude complaining is probably seriously jealous of your setup.

No REAL guitarist would ever need a boost pedal. Anyone who disagrees sucks. Kidding of course. I don’t get people who get upset over someone having a different preference. It’s like telling someone they are wrong if they prefer vanilla ice cream over chocolate.
