second to my pervious comment, i became proficient with the phonetic code years ago, i taught myself by having a cheat sheet with the letter words on, and i would read car number plates in phonetic without looking at the cheat sheet, then use the cheat sheet to confirm whether i was right or wrong Using the PTT button shouldnt be scary, i use CB a lot, and i see using the radio, like holding a button and talking to the person next to me A good game to kind of practice on, is tower 3d, it trains your brain to make you say sequences, thats all you really need to know, sequences of words, letters and digits, and of course repeating what someone else has said

I think that's true, ive been a ham radio operator for decades and a pilot for 20 years, the radio has no fear for me, but you gotta be clear what you want and sound like you know what youre doing, i remember hearing someone being refused zone entry because they were talking like a washing machine...

Im starting out as a student, had a trial flight, got my class 2 medical, starting ppl lessons in august When i was on the trial flight, i did notice one thing, i could hear the CFI really loud, like he had his mouth up to my ear, but ATC was really feint, the CFI could hear them clearly and loud through his headset, so i dont know what was going on there I have noticed from using a scanner, student pilots sound like drunks on the radio, and ATC sound like scatman singing ha ha
