I saw this back in the 80s for the first time as a child, and it still fascinates me. After years of videos from Madonna, Michael/Janet Jackson, Britney, Beyonce, various ballet, what have you, I think this is still my favorite 3-4 minutes of dance. It's camp and artsy and minimalist while still being infectious and fun. It is completely unconcerned by vanity or the need for sexiness. It feels youthful and unpracticed yet somehow polished and sophisticated and extremely precise. Timeless.

Maybe you might kind if agree that the 80s was also better morally socially in that people didnt intimidate or taje advantage of people since now in small city CA it sucks . Selfishness like it's a new virtue now set in every aspect of life . That anyone needs a little boost they are hard to find it . If you now live in a nice neighborhood you do see much good I assume , but for me thar was becoming the good ole days of actually before even 2019 and further way back . During Covid things went south and being respectful to another is like gone almost . Like if the bad ones win the day . Sorty for the pessimistic words but I meant as a observation. I blame the overall government for the messes today deliberately likely allowed to kill neighborly mutual concern .

Toni was the dance choreographer in many of the old Elvis Presley movies. She got her best friend actress Terri Garr uncredited dance parts in several movies.

I always loved this song and video. It always puts me in a good mood and smile. ☺️ Thank you Toni Basil and cheerleaders. Toni and the squad did a great job with it. 👍 I do wonder the names of the cheerleaders in this video and whatever happened them. 🤔 All of them wore sweaters with the year '80 on them. That would mean they're probably all turning 60 this year. 😳 Wow, time does fly. I know because I'm a year older than the cheerleaders. I did read that they were part of a winning squad from Carson High School in Los Angeles.

I'm glad I lived this old school era way back in 1981. Thank God. Today's new school kids will never know good music. The old school way. My condolences. Old school rules. Another time another era.

this song is one of the best examples of why New Wave was so much fun to listen to, and the airwaves were chock full of fun songs like this at the time. It was almost too good to be true.
