I loved this! I had this same one as a kid. Last week when we were cleaning out my mom's house I spotted it in the dumpster I had rented, my soulless sister had tossed it out! Needless to say I rescued it. :)

Pure bloody genius. You get the best of two worlds. The scale and size of the wheels are so close to the original Tonka wheels. Need more of this but with another iconic Tonka truck. Brilliant idea, thanks for sharing.

That was my favourite toy in the late 70s early 80s. I still owned it up until about three years ago, it was in mint condition and I had all the accessories for. Sadly we moved and I couldn't bring it with us so I had to throw it out. I really appreciated your video giving that toy a new life. Well done.

He need a 3 link setup or a "twist bar" don't remember the eng word for it. All regular cars have it. This is a normal behavior of heavy rc cars but are easy to get rid of

Great Job! I love it. I had one of these and it came with a jack and a spare tire. My G.I. Joes were always fixing flats. LOL. I also had a Ford F-150 RC truck that I painted dark blue and painted the rims black. So your project reminded me of two of my favorite toys as a kid. Thank You. :-)

I have this truck. I’m 46 and received it as a kid. Mine is in better condition, but needs an overhaul. I put a lot of miles on that truck! It’s in our basement and our 7 year old son plays with it.

There’s something satisfying about sand or media blasting a rusty piece of metal back to like new! Awesome mod there. Only complaint I got I’d have left the interior tan as it would have really made the truck pop!

Adjustable pre-load shocks with 65 ish weight oil in them would really help that body roll This is absolutely amazing work.

I had a Tonka CJ-7 as a kid, it was light blue with a white interior and had the roll bar, instead of t-top hardtop. Great resto-mod!

My Bro got this when we were very young. I got the yellow mixer, he got this jeep. Its still in pretty good shape actually. Nothing compared to this poor thing. Did a bucket of paint fall on top of it?! Nice work on the conversion! It's got a bit of a lean, but not bad for moving such a heavy object around. Those things were made for toddlers to ride on.. you know, back when kids were actually able to do such things.. now they have to be padded up like they were going to the moon before attempting to play with toys.. lol
