This reminds me of a show I like and there’s an episode where the main character and one of the big villians lackeys work together to free their respective friends/teammates and at the end they have a “you’re not actually that bad” moment with eachother, and he basically says to her, that if he wasn’t working for the big villain, that he would be serving her and it’s really sweet. At the end they mutually agree to forget it ever happened. I love that kind of scene😭esp when they both try to forget it ever happened and go back to how things used to be but things but you can tell they both remember.

A rivals-to-friends dynamic for one of my stories: Protagonist who acts arrogant on the outside, to hide his trauma and self-worth issues, reluctantly teams up with arrogant rival, who derrives his confidence from making other people look stupid and inferior. they only team up, because they have to, in order to survive. At first, they constantly butt heads with each other and SHOW how much they deeply hate each other. Both of them wish the worst upon the other, but once each of them actually sees their respective rival at their low point, they realize that it doesn´t give them the satisfaction, they have hoped for. instead they feel bad, for even wishing such a thing upon them. because at this point, they actually understand each other far more than they would like to admit. the Protagonist understands how it is to feel inadequate and feels sorry when the usually arrogant rival is going through the same as him, while the rival, who already saw behind the facade of the protagonist now UNDERSTANDS what the protagonist is going through. Both learn that there is more to a person that meets the eye. and that even, when you thought, you´ve "already seen what they´re REALLY like, deep down", you should still never judge a person.

I have two male characters with what I think is a sad but nice relationship dynamic. One catches feelings quickly. He’s sad and depressed and the other brings true sunshine into his life. He doesn’t know he likes him at first though. The other guy is a sweet dude who protects the first guy but at first is dating someone else. This other person is toxic, controlling, and just plain hurtful towards him and makes him downright miserable but he tries to hide it and becomes depressed. First guy sees what’s going on. And does his best to try to help the second guy through it. He doesn’t try to get in the way. But tries to be a shoulder to lean on. Slowly but surely the second guy stands up for himself and breaks up with the person. And he feels happier and free but at the same time misses them greatly. First guy is still there for him. Doesn’t take this opportunity to date him, that isn’t what he needs right now. Slowly the second guy develops feelings for the first guy. The fact that the moon is always in the sky but often not visible because of the brightness of the sun. It's just the moon staying in the background so the sun can rage as much as it wants and gets the opportunity to show off because it is actually an introvert. At night the moon takes center stage when the sun is tired and exhausted. The moon tempers its light so people will look forward to the new day and the sun so people will praise the break of dawn. The moon doesn't need the praise of mortals because they have the stars at night to keep themselves company. So they love letting the sun get all the attention. I have never seen the moon as a grump character, always as a nurturer. Maybe it's because I grew up with the song "Hijo de la Luna".

i love enemies to mortal nemesis' or something. mortal enemies? idk, but its so good. just the short-handed, often off the top of the head rivalary and scheming that takes place as character A tries to foil character B's plans, only for it to all go off the rails... now, looking at the carnage, the fighting before didn't look so bad. suddenly everything is shoot to kill, its hurt hurt hurt and more hurt. pain for you, pain for me. torturing family and friends alike, ruining everything. they ruin eachother, and it will end with them dead. looking back, the enemies before didn't look so bad. maybe in another lifetime they could've been friends? nah, definitely not. JUST SO GOOD

1:59 Not medieval, but this is just my joke OC ship that turned into my comfort ship. The girl was the leader of a rebellion against the war mongering leader of her clan. She is competent with several weapon types, great at tactics, and just generally a stack of character traits that I find cool. The reason she chose to lead so many away from her clan was in large part because she met her now-husband while infiltrating the land her clan was at war against. His defining character traits are that he's just some dude. Just a normal guy. He has a job as a receptionist. He enjoys filling cute bento boxes as a hobby. He is the definition of domestic fluff, and his friendly tour of the city made her realize that maybe this culture they were supposed to be at war with wasn't as evil as she thought? The rebellion was basically successful, so she's retired as its leader and now spends her days fighting for sport and spending time with her husband, who dotes on her every move. ...oh, and she's an octopus and he's a jellyfish, btw. They're from Splatoon.
