Hi tobias, i wanna ask you about a counterfeit mic called Shure sm58 that I saw it in Aliexpress for around 26$ and people that tried it said in the comment is very good with an incredible sound quality but the problem is that it has 3.5 mm jack so my question is : does the 3.5 mm can perform the full potential of the mic concerning the sound loudness so that I want only put it directly to my computer with no phantom power or even an external soundcard ? Hi, that is an interesting question. I am not an expert on this, but my guess is that the 3.5mm jack would not effect the loudness of the mic and you should be able to control the input volume on your computer. As for the phantom power, that would only be required for a mic that requires phantom power, such as most condenser microphones that are not USB microphones. The Shure sm58 is a dynamic mic and it doesn't need phantom power. That being said, I have never tried plugging a dynamic mic into my computer through my mac books line in port, but I think it is worth a try.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that about your mic. Do you have the usb plug, plugged into your computer? If you do I would try using a plug from an iphone charger or something and plugging the usb cable into there and plugging that into a power outlet. Like how I am doing it at 5:02 That may get rid of the static

I have the latest version with the usb 3.0 pnp adaptor and I absolutely love it! I use it for videos, gaming chats, and pretty much any audio. I even deactivated my SteelSeries headset mic and Logitech BRIO mic, in favor of using this as my primary audio input. For the price, you definitely won’t find a better kit.

Hey my brother asked me about mics for podcasting and stumbled along this and was going to send him a link so he could get it, however just making sure it works with a Go Pro Hero 8 (with the microphone adapter) as he wants it all set up with that. Basically if I were to put the 3.5mm output cable into that adapter would that work with the GoPro Hero 8?

Fantastic review! I recently bought the mic after watching this but am sad to say that it isn't working at the moment and I'm not quite sure why. I plugged the output from the phantom power into my pc's audio input and everything else seems to be fine. the power light on the phantom turns on and I'm confused as to why it doesn't work. After experimenting with it quite a bit, I boosted the audio by 30 dbs in sound settings and recorded in audacity. I could 'just' faintly hear my voice. Any advice or possible solution?

Hi Grady, I'm afraid it might now work, but to double check on your MacBook Air you can go to system preferences> Sound> input and see if there is a "line in" option there. If there isn't I don't think it will work. However, if you don't have a line in option, I do have some recommendations for similar mics which go through your USB port if you would like me to direct you to those.

I have bought this mic and when plugged into my iMac I opened GarageBand to test and noticed the volume was extremely low. I then went to the internet and they told me to 1. Plug in the phantom power supply (which I did) and then 2. Turn up the input volume(which I did) but the volume is still extremely low. Can you help?

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that your mic isn't sounding good. I didn't do anything special to make my mic sound good. Is your mic making a "hiss" noise by any chance? I had a conversation with someone in the comments below and they said their mic was making a hiss noise. They ended up contacting the Amazon seller and returning their mic for a replacement and the replacement mic sounded fine. I think there may be some defective units out there. Maybe you got one of them.

Had a hard time getting volume out of mine. I just got this week. Although I had it plugged to the sound card that came with it on my HP Envy. On Facebook live they only could hear sporadically. I don't have a power booster yet. We'll see after I purchase one.

@@TobiasHolenstein yes we turned it up and then we added a little wi-fi speaker to test it out and we could hear it fine through the speaker. when I played back a Facebook live it was very sporadic sometimes pausing and so I got a feeling it has something to do with the actual Wi-Fi to my router that may be getting sporadic signal.

Hi, I have not tried this personally, but I think it should work. I believe there should be an audio jack on the bottom of the Xbox one controller which is meant for headsets, although you may need a trrs adapter for this since I believe that jack on the xbox one controller is meant for headsets right? Then if you want to monitor the audio I guess you would need a trrs headset splitter to be able to also plug in headphones. I don't have any gaming consoles, so I haven't tried this, but I think that's how it should work

Hola, lo siento mi espanol no esta muy bien, pero ya tengo un idea mejor. Si, eso va a funcionar con tu interface. Si tu interface tiene "phantom power" tu puedes conectar el microfono con tu interface directo con el cable de XLR. No nececitas usar el caja de Tonor como soy usando en el video a la 5:10. Pero si tu interface no tiene el "phantom power", puedes usar esta caja de Tonor pero en el lugar de usar el cable de XLR con 3.5mm para conectar con una computadora, puedes comprar un cable normal de XLR para conectar con tu interace. La cosa es que, esta microfono necesita phantom power, y si tu interface no tiene puedes utilizar esta caja por phantom power

The USB that comes with this is only to supply power for the phantom power. They honestly could have just used a regular plug for this to go into a power outlet, but they used a USB. I'm guessing the reason is just so it would work universally. I was thinking if I used a phone charger vs plugging the usb into my laptop, it could possibly avoid some grounding issues causing there to be a hum in the audio. For anyone experiencing a hum or interference, I would suggest doing this. As for the voltage, standard 110v is fine. One other thing to take into consideration is whether your computer has a line in or a mic port for this mic to plug into. One thing that I would also take into consideration is that, in my opinion, this mic is especially good for people just getting into recording because if later down the line, if you get an audio interface, you will still be able to use this mic with your interface because it is an XLR mic.

One other thing to take into consideration is whether your computer has a line in or a mic port for this mic to plug into. One thing that I would also take into consideration is that, in my opinion, this mic is especially good for people just getting into recording because if later down the line, if you get an audio interface, you will still be able to use this mic with your interface because it is an XLR mic.

Yeah, the volume can definitely go up. When I review mics I typically don't turn up the volume up because I don't want any part of my voice to peak, because people might think it is distortion caused by the microphone.

Hi there! No the thing at 5:09 is just a phantom power, not an interface. I made the mistake of calling it an interface at the beginning of the video because I wasn't sure what it was yet. The way that this mic works is, it plugs directly into your line in on the laptop. If your laptop or computer does not have a line in, then I guess you would need an interface.

Yeah if your on console you can just plug the 3.5 jack into the controller and just use a usb headset and if your on pc you can either plug it in via usb or your pc might have a 3.5 jack aswell

I think the mic came faulty so I've returned it 😩 but I had the XLR cable plugged into the phantom box and then from there into my PC ± a usb plug. And I also tried connecting the XLR cables input and output together and direct into my pc but it was the same quality. I commented on another review and they said It sounds like it was just faulty. My sound was extremely muffled and staticky.
