Nice review, I bought of couple of these for my podcast and they sound pretty good even without processing so I don't think you can go wrong with this set. The arm can be a bit weak. The clamp that the arm attaches to, can sometimes warp. But still a great deal for starting out.

Hello there, do I really need a Phantom Power supply? I'm asking because I bought one and don't really see/hear any difference. I have that 48V from Tonor. The Probleme is, in order to be heard I have to get really close to the mic, and with close I mean I basically have to touch the first Pop filter (Sock) with my lips... And if I go to the microsoft sound settings and try to amplifie the mic all I get is a constant loud backround noise. Peace
@PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 5 жыл бұрын
There may be something wrong with your power supply if so. Condenser microphones need phantom power else you are not going to get any (or barely any) volume out of them. When you enable the phantom power, the mic should become quite "hot" (meaning you should be able to get a lot of volume and sensitivity out of it with your volume level adjustment). If you find that you are barely getting any volume out of the mic, even with the phantom power supply, either the supply or the mic might be damaged/faulty. -- James

Does it work with the new iPad Air 3? Or any advice for that pls
@PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 4 жыл бұрын
We haven't tested it against the latest iPad Air. You would likely connect the 3.5mm end to it like you would a computer. However, you would typically need a special TRS to TRRS adapter on the end because your iPad would likely require the extra ring. Something like this: amzn.to/37S0EYa - Unless the headphone jack doesn't support both mic and headphone support, in which case you would need a Lightning to 3.5mm TRRS adapter -- James H.

@PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 4 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for a professional recording, you could use the setup but swap the mic out with a better brand/model for the best results. For example, the arm/xlr/amp paired with something like a Sterling Audio ST-55. Unless you are incredible at post-edit. Then you could use this whole kit + its mic, and clean it up and make it sound a little better afterward. -- Ryan S.

Can I record music in the studio with it? For example the instrument recording? Thank you for yoru help.
@PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 3 жыл бұрын
Sure. It factors in like any other condenser mic in that sense and in that scenario your studio's soundboard (should) offer phantom power already so you won't need the little amp it comes with. The only thing is if you are recording in a studio, you'd likely want to use a higher-end mic than an entry-level solution like this. If you are concerned about the budget, I'd still take it up a notch. Find something like the Sterling Audio st55 used (ebay: pnet.click/st55ebay) for under $100 that is in perfect condition. Those can really shine when it comes to both vocal and instrument recording, for the price. However, if you are set on using the TONOR, it is a normal XLR phantom-driven mic. -- James H.

how will it perform recording something loud like drums
@PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 3 жыл бұрын
Good question, since the mic is more shaped around beginner vloggers/streamers (spoken voice). It could easily be assumed that you won't get the quality you'd expect from a proper drum mic. Also, considering that there are different types of mics that match best with certain drums, we wouldn't expect too much. If you are simply looking for a low-budget mic that can "do everything" until you can afford to break out with a number of proper mics for different activities and aren't looking to monetize your content in any way, you may be fine. You can play with the distance between the mic and the drum and then fix whatever you can in post-edit. We wouldn't recommend live-streaming it with drums since you wouldn't have this ability without a much better budget for gear (ie, a good digital mixer with layers/effects to fix things with). -- James H.

I found that when I tried to attach my heil PR40 I couldn't get it to work. But it was fine with the tonor BM700 that came with it and I was satisfied with the sound. and my JTS JS-1E fell inbetween. Any thoughts on that?
@PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say. If the Heil PR40 works just fine in any other situation with your normal phantom power, I would have assumed it would have worked here. Resulting audio quality could vary depending on the microphone, but it 'should' work. We've tried TONOR's amp with a number of models and haven't run into one that didn't yet (yet). We don't have a Heil PR40 on-site to trying ourselves, so there is no way to say for sure on that one. -- James H.

However, you may need a special TRS to TRRS adapter on the end because your phone would likely require the extra ring. Something like this: amzn.to/37S0EYa would do the job. I would start by testing any other microphone (could be a cheapo PC mic laying around, lav mic, or any other mic that uses the typical connection) in your phone first to make sure it works or not. If not, then try with the adapter, and if your phone accepts it, then you can buy into this kit. -- James H.

Hello. Most of the content processed/encoded here is done using Adobe applications. This specific content processed with Premiere Pro. Looking at the notes, the audio was imported in the raw (no editing in post) in order to preserve what the mic naturally sounds like. @PocNetwork
@PocNetwork 3 жыл бұрын
No. Phantom power is meant for XLR connected microphones that require it. Microphones that connect natively with 3.5mm are meant to connect passively to their destination. If you are not getting a high enough level from that microphone, then you'd want to use any form of mixer/console in between the mic and its destination (ie, camera, computer, field recorder, etc). -- James H.
