Love the reviews and the laughs! For what it's worth, I bought this exact unit 14 months ago and started my KZbin channel. I am now at over 37,000 subs so as bad as it may be compared to lots of others, if you're looking for a cheap option (I use *free* Audacity to clean up and compress the audio), this will certainly do the trick! Don't let the equipment be your excuse to not succeed!
@MisterQuizster3 жыл бұрын
@Rechat I don't think I'd call it a better deal as it is an inferior product, but if all you need is decent sounding audio, the Q9 along with Audacity to clean things up a bit will get the job done. If you are looking for good quality audio or you want a nice warm or crystal clear sound, you won't get it with the Q9. It's just enough to get by but if you are on a budget, you can get away with it.

I actually got this on a whim not long after they launched it, I got it for around $40 as an open-box item (free shipping). I think at that price point it's a much better argument. It's certainly not the best in the $50-100 tier but dropping a couple Jacksons to get a whole plug-and-play setup that sounds at the very least much better than a cruddy headset ain't too bad. That said I would definitely prefer to get an XLR setup sometime.

I feel like the volume button not being clicky is a good think. If you are going to be pressing this while recording into it, it needs to be as quiet as possible. But glad to see there is a vid today, missed the BSP at work.
@Podcastage5 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about that after I recorded, but I still think it would be nice to know you’ve pressed it. Perhaps a middle ground could have a light meter letting you know the gain you’re at. Otherwise you have no idea because you can’t even monitor it to see if you’ve increased or decreased or anything. Some way to know where you’re at gain wise or a way to know you’ve hit the button would be good.

Thanks for the info. I stream on Twitch and someone gifted this to me for the holiday. I can definitely understand where you’re coming from with all your critique. It’s been really rough trying to EQ it and make it sound as good as possible. Luckily there are streamers who are live to many more viewers than I that don’t sound as good and are using a more expensive mic. For the price it’s decent. Eventually I plan to upgrade since I didn’t have to invest in it in the first place. Great vid.

Have you seen the Thronmax MDRILL One? It looks like the perfect USB condenser mic on paper - headphone jack for direct monitoring, mute, headphone volume and gain control on the mic, looks good (subjective), good build quality, USB type C, RGB (if you're in to that), comes with its own stand (similar to the Yeti), 4 polar patterns/modes - cardioid, stereo cardioid, omnidirectional and bidirectional, and is relatively cheap at £79.99 (the Yeti is £119.99 for comparison). Alot of those mic you listed are omnidirectional. Could that be the reason they are a different price. I need a cardiod or supercardiod or I'm going to have to buy so much sound treatment that I'd might as well buy a high-end mic to make up for it. I have the NW700 XLR and bought it back when it costed more than now and because it picks up sound in every direction, mostly where it's a grate, it produces absolutely terrible audio without a lot of sound treatment and distance from the walls. I didn't want to move my studio to get more wall distance nor buy a lot more sound treatment so I'm looking for a podcast mic that does ok as for commercial projects I can rent studio time and do it the right way with $150,000 in equipment and I have other things to spend money on than perfect podcast quality, but the echoes, the reverb is discouraging with this omnidirectional.
