Tonto Irie had a natural knack for sitting down on a riddim: never off key. Easy DJ and thank Muscle for this spot.

Tonto Irie from the Jammy’s Posse!!! His early stuff with the Hi-Times band before everything with digital was so so hard! Great talent. Big up Muscle for this one.

Love the way Tonto acknowledges how great Papa San and Lt Stitchie were back in the day. Being an artist in the music business even now is almost like trying to stay alive in shark infested waters with blood coming out of your foot. I've always thought that many original artists should be millionaires but the business side of things is so ruthless. Your tune can be No1 in the charts but you get no money. American rappers have always been light years ahead of most Jamaican artists business wise but not talentwise.

Wicked interview tonto irie is so honest I know he doesn't want to call names and get a law suit. The business is corrupt and a lot of artist in the 70s 80s were ripped off with no contract signed.

💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯. Salute Di Great #TontoIrie #MicrophoneChemist. 💥💥💥💥. That 4 sound clash in Student Union Lawn that Black Star Sound won in /85 was one of the best clashes in SoundSystem history. A little side note for the Toronto, GTA.. Canada Crew ...the Torpedo Sound System who were in this same clash is the same Torpedo which emerged in the GTA (Malton/Mississauga) in the early 90s till now. It was the owners' (My Brejrin) Uncles' Sound in the 80s from what he told me.

@@Raal367 Must be late 85. If you watch Admiral Interview he said he was at King Stur Gav 1986 for a short while then move on to Jammy's, And that Studio One recording is not a Session, Its was just a working out at Jammy's Home/Base. And Tonto was deejaying Black Star up to 1986, One of my bredren keep a Dance with Black Star 1986 at Club Hawaii in May Pen feat. Tonto Irie, Tiger, Bruk Back, Malvo, Earl Cunningham, Bigga, Marlon Brando & Junior Briggy, I think that was the first and only time Tiger perform in May Pen.

Tanto is wrong; Producers who are in the business must know about publishing and royalties if they didn't they would not be in business for long. They pay artists get them to sign away their rights and collect the artists' money or sell it to foreign record labels. You can't tell me that Jammies never knew...

One of the great voice in dj business from then..but this was more of a rant than an interview. The artist sound bitter for his own short comings. He is calling out other producers, but not his friend Jammys. They all use to rob these dum artist..who did it for the love and not the business. He have great voice but not much lyrics. He is talking about all these new artist and never one time mention Beanie or Bounty...who survived in the business for over 20 years. Stitchie was great..but Chaplin and San is the grand daddy of Spanish town. It's sad, pure bitterness in the dj.

I think Everybody Get Flat was 1985, but Paul Blake had a big tune before that called Rub a Dub Soldier in 1984, which had a digital sounding riddim. That was before Sleng Teng.
