This is one of the greatest players ever. His sense of rhythm playing a non western style but jazzes it loosely.. The band here is so good and they follow the leader. I'm super sad I never knew of you til recently and I would have changed my approach, playing more like this subtle feel, with articulation. Mr Allen is a Giant

L'inventeur n'agit jamais ex-nihilo. James Brown n'a pas créé le funk ex-nhilo non plus. Brown, Fela, Allen, comme beaucoup d'autres avant eux, ont inventé dans le sens où ils ont catalysé et propulsé ce qui n'était qu'éléments et en ont fait un genre à l'échelle internationale. A n'en juger que par l'intérêt que lui porta jadis Ginger Baker, le formidable impact de Allen est indéniablement antérieur à ce qu'il a fait depuis la disparition de Fela.
