My mom, Ariane, died on September 21 after a 10 year battle with cancer. This song has been part of my process of saying goodbye. I still reach for my phone to call or text her from time to time, forgetting that she's gone. It's been a slow process of letting go, and I gather I'm at the beginning stages of it all.
As I wrote this song, I had a picture of mom and my sister Sharon in view. The two of them were in our garden in Nebraska in the summer of 1993 or 1994 - those colors, temperatures and memories worked their way into every fiber of this music...a time before difficulty, disease and loss. These years were the most simple in my life, and I wanted to imprint them in a lasting way.
The very last thing mom said to me before she died was "look for my smile." I'm still not sure what she meant, but I wanted the photo I kept near me to be the album cover because of the light in her eyes.
These melodies are for you, mom - and for your spirit living on in Sharon. I miss you so much. I wish you could have heard this.
And Sharon, I am immensely grateful that you're my sister. I'm proud of your courage, compassion and resilience. You carry her elegance, grace and power so well...

I discovered this song on Spotify shortly after my daughter, Arianna, was born a few months ago. Having not read the description I had no idea it was a song born out of grief. But I play it every night as I put her to bed... it is beautiful. So I want you to know that this beautiful piece of music has been a piece of new life, as well as loss. Thank you.

The story goes same to me. I was aware about Tony Anderson and his music from the introduction of track Emmanuel. Later on after exploring more of his music I was really touched and connected to this track ARIANA. This track was very special to me and I felt very much connected. I was constantly playing this music on my phone, if not in my head(contemplating this track with the scenario around me ) at the time iI was at Portugal, Melides coastal side. It was mid summer and me and my wife planned to go to the beach side of Melides which is really beautiful. She was already pregnant with our daughter almost 4 months. We planned a day to walk by the beach of Melides and just enjoy the solitariness. The waves on the sea getting stronger while occasional gush of wind passed by us. it was neither cold nor hot it was perfect. Mid of April in Portugal. We really enjoyed that moment and took some pictures and videos. Later on, after some days I was informed that my first child is a baby girl. when my wife asked what we should name her the only name that came to me was the name ARIANA. Me and my wife we are Nepalese from Himalayan region while buddhism being our background naming her ARIANA was unnatural(according to our tradition)... Well the story is long, but in short connecting to your comment, when I read the description on this video I realised the grief that was emotionally attached to it. Like you've said a beautiful piece of composition in music I would like to say that this track although its about loss has and will be an inspiration for a new life for me. My Daughter My motivation "ARIANA".

Hi Tony, I don't know whether you'll ever see this, but I just want you to know that I figured out what your mother meant when she said, "Look for my smile," because I lost my own 12 years ago and I've had some time: she meant look for her in your mirror or to see how you feel when you look at the sky in spring or at someone you love or when you feel something that moves you profoundly. The day before yesterday, I learnt that my younger brother, to whom I'm very close and who lost his mother when he was 8, was suicidal. The same day, I learnt that I could soon be unemployed. I wasn't able to process any of this and in between trying to save my job, my brother and myself working from home, I learnt I was the only adult in my family I could rely on because she wasn't here anymore. Then yesterday, the algorithm put Ariana by you on. I had another tab open but the moment the first few notes hit me, I knew, instinctively that you had lost someone. When I read your description, I curled up in my bed for an hour and cried because so many memories I thought I had lost resurfaced. My mother, through your own mother's smile in this picture, came out to tell me I wasn't alone. When I was done, I found myself uploading a photo of her, to receive millions of comments telling me, specifically, how much my smile was like her own. That's what she means, Tony. She means for you to be happy. It's what I live everyday. And I feel her then. And now, I'll think of Ariana as well. Thank you. :)

Beautiful words, Alaric MORAS. Same here, as soon as the music played I felt this loss. Losing a mom is like missing a shade of happiness. The color is completely taken from the palette. Nothing can ever replicate it. There's a spiritual depth to motherhood, and you realize that the moment you cannot see or be with her again in this life.

Bawled my eyes out after reading this. I'm so lucky to have my mother still around. I wish I listened to her more growing up, it would have saved me so much pain and heartbreak in life. If your mother is still with you, give her all the love and respect while you still can. Listen to her advice, your mother is the only person in this world who wants nothing other than your success and happiness.

I suffered from depression and whenever I had a mental breakdown I would listen to this song, I think the reason of that is because I always thought of this song like a sad one, a song that tried to describe the loss of a mother, the suffering. But right now I listen to it and I don't feel sadness nor suffering in this beautiful melody. In fact I got it all wrong, it is beautiful and pure, it's a tribute lullaby for this beautiful soul.

I just found this song recently. My coworker had this song in a playlist called "gorgeous soundtracks," and when I heard it the first time, I thought this was the most beautiful song I've ever heard. My daughter's 1st birthday is this weekend. I am attempting to put together a video collage of the last year as a surprise to my wife and family (no skill at all, but giving it a shot). This is the song that I chose to put in the background. I was terrified to be a dad and at times didn't want to be. Before my daughter came I had a lot of dark days full of anxiety. As I watch these snippets go by, I am realizing how blessed I am by God's goodness to have the responsibility of life in my hands. The joy I feel is something that I didn't think I would experience again. It's the joy you see in your mom and sister and it's the colors captured in those fields. Tony - your music is captivating and moves the Spirit in me. Thank you for helping me realize that it turned out alright. I can't wait to share this with my family.

I received a lot of comfort from this song during a difficult time for me personally. I would like to introduce it to those who like rainy days. hope it can be a small but positive comfort for many people in the long, long process of controlling their minds. I sincerely thank Tony for doing something that can save people.

I had no idea what motivated this song, but every time i heard it i would sob, i just seems to pull out of me all my sadness and anger, and i just cry. I have never heard a song that draws out emotion so vividly. And now i see why. An amazing piece of music to immortalize your mothers memory. Bravo.

It’s been exactly 3 weeks since my mom left to be with God . Exactly a year back she completed her chemo today ! And Spotify got me to this - suggested track to my playlist. My dad too left within 11 days to be with her . I look for their smile when I smile at the mirror . They smile through me now :) . What she meant when she said “Look for my smile “ can be interpreted only by you ! We can just give our inferences . I personally feel she meant - look for smiles everywhere , so that it puts a smile on your face too and one day may be when you are not expecting it you will feel her In spirit and energy smiling through someone ! Thanks for this - it’s helping too . The ones who love us , never leave . They may not exist in the physical world today but in spirit they are always there with us .

I think this was the song I listen when I "found you" for the first time. I like sometimes to come again and listen to it. It'd immense ! I love the picture. I said to you on another song about LA that i dont like the homeless ppl there, in the sense that no one is doing nothing. This picture is a reminder that USA is also so beautiful, love the nature....but in this picture I would like to point out your mom smile and your sister happiness ! So pure all of this..the song, your mom and sister in the picture, the nature... keep blessing us with your music, shes proud of you !

I also lost my mum and sister, to COVID, without reading your description of this piece, I felt that your music transported me to a place I envision that my mum and sister now reside, after reading your description, it all made sense why this compilation is so befitting to my grief, love, hope and a sense of oneness with them. May their souls find moksha.

My mom died of cancer when I was 13 years old. I am still walking on your path of letting go, and it seemed to me that this path is almost over. I am 46 years old, and when I listened to this composition I found myself at the beginning of the path of letting go, tears again in my eyes. You cannot prepare for this. Thank you for your understanding ...! God bless you!

I believe that what your mom wanted to tell you is: "Think of me with a smile upon your face, look for me in the beauty of the world as I am a part of it, I am always around you".She gave you the most precious gift, the freedom of loving without the need for suffering. Thank you for your music.

Tony, I just want to say thank you. This song is very special to me. I first heard this song in January of 2020. I loved the sense of peace it gave me, I knew that it was something special from the moment I heard it and upon learning the inspiration behind it, it just made sense as to why this song was so beautiful. March 29th 2020 I learned that my father had been hospitalized. Apparently my family kept it from me because they didn't want me to worry. You see I'm currently in pharmacy school and they knew that I was busy with exams. Upon being made aware I drove home and I listened to this song the entire 4 hour drive. During that drive, I just knew that he was probably not going to make it. Sadly, he passed away due to covid complications. Unfortunately I never got to say goodbye, I never got the chance to thank him for everything that he did for me. I'm still very broken as a result of it all. I never imagined that he'd pass away suddenly at the age of 56. My dad worked so hard his entire life that he never got to enjoy the fruits of his labor . Seeing him work as hard as he did I had made it my goal to strive to help him in the later years of his life. I wanted to see him relax, to see him smile and spend time with his family. I still dream of him, smiling and telling me, "Son, you are going to do a lot of great things in this world." The way things happened, the way I never got to see him or speak to him, the way I was just told to believe that my dad was buried 6ft in the ground... I grew angry at the world, angry at everything that's going on due to the pandemic, I stopped caring for others. It was painful to think that I kept telling myself that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping others but I never got the opportunity to be there for my family. I'm still struggling, it all comes and goes in waves. I'm still working to find a sense of happiness. I had stopped listening to this song for a while because of the painful emotions it brought me, it reminded me of that car ride. I realize now that I was just trying to not think about things and of the way things transpired. I'm going to finish pharmacy school in May 2023. Since then I've actually decided to learn how to play the piano. I learned that I can express all of my emotions through it, things that are too difficult to express in words. Playing the piano brings me an incredible sense of peace and joy. I hope to eventually go on to create my own work, it may be a very long time but this song will serve as reminder of how special a song can truly be. I'm still working to the best version of myself, to value life, and to enjoy it as much as I can with those that I love. I listen to this song often now and now serves as a reminder of my father, the man that never stopped striving for his dreams, the man that gave everything to help those around him, the man that despite adversity kept his hope alive, and the man that gave his children an amazing future. This song reminds me of all the wonderful moments that I had with him and for that I thank you Tony.

@@juancruznasta5298 Hi Juan. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I've come to learn that the pain never truly goes away but it does become more bearable. For now I'm just trying to live life as best as I can and maintaining the hope that someday we'll all be blessed with the opportunity to see our loved ones again in the future. Yes, I'll be graduating later this month. Fortunately I obtained a great position following my graduation and I cannot wait to be able to help others. I feel it has all been a blessing.

Her smile is you my friend. You are the continuity of the happiness that she gave you with her life, her love and her smile. Seeking your smile is a bit like chasing after your life, to enjoy it more and more. Wherever she is, she hears this love that you knew how to translate so well into this beautiful melody. Your inspiration reflects the wonderful person she was. Thank you for this message, and I wish you to smile for a long time.
