Imagine how moving it would’ve been for Hilary to have quoted his father’s speech when giving his own speech, and spoken against the war instead of for it.
@stephenholmes43443 жыл бұрын
He could have quoted his speech in *support* of airstrikes. Tony Benn spoke about the UN charter and it’s importance in maintaining international law and human rights . The UN did NOT mandate a bombing of Iraq so Tony was against it. But the UN was in favour of strikes in Syria to protect the people from possible genocide of IS. I was against the war in Iraq but for airstrikes in Syria. And I make no apology for my inconsistent language. There was no war in Iraq in 1998 or 2003 so Tony Benn was arguing against war. But Hilary Benn was arguing for air strikes, not for war. Regardless of whether the air strikes were launched there were thousands of Syrians dying at the hands of IS. The war was a fact regardless of the air strikes. So Hilary Benn was not pro war, the war was already a reality. He was pro air strikes because he was following in the tradition of his fathers reverence towards the UN charter.

Hilary Benn's speech was NOTHING compared to his father. The choice of word, the tonality, the sincerity, the confidence, etc. everything Tony Benn presented was whole-heartedly and carefully crafted to express his passion and determination to stop the war. His intention had nothing to do with politics; nothing to do with money; nothing to do with the interest of those who would benefit him were he to vote against the war. He genuinely cared for the lives of those innocent people who, in Tony Benn's words, had no part to play in the brutality of the regime which they were dealing with. In contrast, Hilary constantly went back and forth with his "script", so he could make sure he mentioned every single one of those who he deemed beneficial to his political campaign. His body languages showed no passion towards his seemingly righteous words. It only showed brilliant acting, a deliberate plan of artificial movements in attempt to persuade. However, no matter how he tried to raise and lower his tone or waving his hands strongly in different direction, a show is just a show. Oh how typical it is that majority of modern politicians nowadays act in this shameful way while pretending to represent the interest of the people.

+sadako24 Because...he was arguing that ISIS should be exterminated BY THE WEST (at the expense of the hard working tax payers), with WESTERN BOMBS (each one, costing hard working tax payers MILLIONS). * You may recall when the West decided to WASTE LIVES, MONEY AND TIME OVERTHROWING the Afghanistan Government (the Taliban); despite the fact that they had NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11, and had OFFERED TO DELIVER OSAMA BIN LADEN DIRECTLY TO A 3RD PARTY NATION, who could then deliver him directly to the U.S. To that offer, the West DECLINED...and the Western invasion began. Now, it's been 16 yrs since the West invaded Afghanistan, and YET, the Taliban has control over MORE TERRITORY than any time since the West began PERFORMING THAT PARTICULAR COUP. CLEARLY, the WEST has NO BUSINESS PRETENDING that they're capable of using Western Military 'tactics' to successfully ELIMINATE TERRORISM. If they were...THEY'D HAVE PROVED IT BY NOW! * Also, Assad DID NOT use chemical weapons against his own people. It was the 'Moderate Rebels' (i.e. the WESTERN BACKED TERRORISTS) who committed the attack then...and it was the 'Moderate Rebels' who committed the ALLEGED chemical attack earlier in 2017. The 'Moderate Rebels' are present in Syria to CREATE THE EXCUSES that the West needs to 'justify' their involvement in Syria...because it buys the West more time to continue pursuing their coveted Syrian Political Coup. * And finally, WESTERN BOMBS DO NOT EXTERMINATE 'VERMIN'! WESTERN BOMBS PROLIFERATE 'VERMIN' BY EXTERMINATING INNOCENT CIVILIANS, AND DESTROYING THE LIVES OF THE INNOCENT CIVILIANS WHO SURVIVE THE BOMBINGS. WESTERN BOMBS ALSO...CREATE REFUGEES! Yea buddy...that horribly inconvenient influx of terrified and desperate refugees into European nations...is the DIRECT RESULT OF WESTERN BOMBS CONSTANTLY THREATENING THEIR ENTIRE EXISTENCE; and the U.S. Government's refusal to ACCEPT THE LARGEST SHARE OF THE BURDEN (since those refugees were ONLY created because the U.S. Government FAILED to isolate their greed to ONLY ROBBING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE). Hillary Benn voted to put the UK's hands in Syria's 'cookie jar'. Now the UK's hands are OVERFLOWING with the Syrian refugees that WESTERN BOMBS BLEW OUT OF Syria's 'cookie jar'. Once the West stops dropping Western bombs...the West will stop creating refugees...then the West can stop complaining about all the refugees who fled from, and successfully escaped, all of the Western bombs! And once the West stops dropping Western bombs...the West will stop proliferating terrorists...then the West will stop being attacked by the terrorists who were indoctrinated BY THE WESTERN BOMBS!
