I was gunna simply comment because I saw TB on LBC, but thought it best to sit through it (like dental work), before commenting. I look forward to reading his book. I specially look forward to the chapters on lying to get your country into a war, removing the civil liberties of the people you govern, and recipes for washing blood off your hands. The only thing to say about Blair's Labour government, is that it was the best Tory government we have ever had! Personally, I think giving him air time on LBC is profoundly disappointing, and he should be confined to the latrine of history along with Thalidomide, genital mutilation and catapulting diseased corpses into besieged cities!

I don't think adding tax to sugar, salt and fat is going to address the issue. From what I understand, some of the worst foods are those that are "low fat" and such. They are some of the most highly processed foods. Doctors now are going back to telling people they should have butter instead of other types of fat.

I wanted to become joint tenant with my Nan, but there was some sort of qualifying time period, years not months, the details are foggy. However I could sign up for right to buy immediately, using the RTB scheme and getting the maximum discount because we had been there 20+ years. (This was the house I'd grown up in btw, but had moved away for about 9 months and come back after my Grandfather died) However the scheme was exploited by non resident children and other relatives.

Asylum seekers that are successful with their application (over 90 percent) are granted an indefinite leave to remain visa (ILR) which then instantly entitles them to make a claim for social housing and benefits then can then also apply for citizenship, once they have been living in the UK for at least 12 months after being granted the indefinite leave visa. Play on words by James, technically asylum seeker while waiting for they're application to be processed aren't entitled to social housing but once processed are.

What people have to remember is the food industry that produces this stuff are only bothered about profits, but it is also up to individuals to and families to check what they are putting into their own bodies. When you look at the government statistics and others available, 63.8% of adults aged 18 and over were overweight or living with obesity if you look at what is classed as a healthy BMI figure. It's not just the obvious foods it is also foods with hidden ingredients that can pile on the pounds and cause health issues. The labelling system in the UK is woeful and too many governments have let the industry self-regulate which will never work.

How about common sense??? I never allow by children to drink Cola or Fanta or some kind of sugar stuff. We drink water and juice. Mostly just water because I don't buy so much juice. We here literally drink more water than anything else and the water comes from the tab because we have a very high water quality. I also don't buy any sweets or chocolate, except in rare exceptions. Just say No. Your children will listen. PS: I buy maybe once a week some chips with salt, I buy once a week Ice Tea that have very little sugar.
