Fantastic interview. Well done Rory and Alastair. Great to hear from Tony again.

I was always a Blair fan but listening to him now he does sound like he is expounding platitudes and word salad. Having said that he is still far more intelligent and articulate than any in the government today.

I think that the first half or so of his time as PM were very successful with a lot of positive achievements, before things clearly unravelled during the second half. Saying that he himself would probably consider the second half to be more successful, as he was ‘bolder’.

I'm not defending the Tory's, but didn't Labour leave the note at the treasury saying "I'm afraid we have run out of money"? We have to pick the least self-serving party to fleece us every 4-5 years. Media spin makes it difficult to make an objective judgement.

I don’t know if it’s the hard left or the Tory’s But they do a good job of basically saying any credible Labour candidate ie Blair or starmer is “basically a Tory” and then people fall into the trap of all politicians are the same. That’s something Labour need to overcome
@jackwaterman67272 жыл бұрын
Yes, they can do that by stop being Tory lol! If Corbyn was the problem, why did Starmer drop the entire manifesto and lie about keeping it to the members during the election! Keir Starmer is a liar and so are the Tories! Spin equals lies.

They are all the same. People say politicians are all the same because they are. They wear different rosettes but they all serve exactly the same interests. The job of politicians is to lie to the public, to pretend they serve them, all the while truly serving the super rich and media barons. Corbyn was different, and look what happened to him.

There isn’t really a contest between who the best PM of modern times is and frankly every day we continue with this conservative government just emphasises that even further.

As long as we agree that it's Thatcher. Blair's job was to merely implement Thatcherism in Labour. Also Thatcher went to war to defend British territory while Blair went to war to defend a lie. I assume we are both in agreement.

The peak of NHS performance in terms of meeting meaningful targets was under Brown. The problem for NHS staff is endless top down reorganisations…way too much time spent on adapting to political bright ideas at the expense of fine tuning practice within the system. Stop top down reforms and sort out social care. Every party has failed on that.

What these guys are missing is that we are seeing great tectonic changes in the world - the rise of China, global migration, technology advances, geopolitical security challenges, religious extremism, energy security - and the old paradigms of policy responses that could be previously classified as left, right and Centre are challenged.
