It was the 80s man....small things and details were were well taken care of and became important. The Duke is a masterpiece and I won't have ANY other actor displaying him.

dude gives his 100% every time. The scream he made when Clubber punched Rocky, the way the dude ugly cried when Apollo got killed, he even actively wrestled with Drago's cornerman lmao. He gives his everything everytime he gets the screentime.

Duke has always been my favourite character in the Rocky franchise and Tony Burton just owned the part. I think my favourite Duke moment is from Rocky IV after the second round where Rocky cuts Drago and Duke gives the "You got him hurt bad, now he's worried. You CUT him! You HURT him! You see? You see? He's NOT a machine, HE'S A MAN!" line.

I love how in the Rocky franchise, everyone picks up the torch to get to the goal. When Mickey died, Apollo stepped in. When Apollo died, Duke stepped in. With Duke gone, Rocky is now the coach.

This may be the best video on KZbin. One of the great underrated actors in film history. His presence is so powerful that his scenes seem much longer than they actually are. Every appearance is a textbook lesson of what great acting looks like, as if he's saying to the rest of the cast and the viewer "...this is how it's done."

Tony Burton had played such an important part in all of the "Rocky" films. His knowledge and skills as a manager and trainer to both Apollo and then to Rocky in the later films was the guiding force in their respective successful boxing careers.

You gotta love Duke. He had a huge heart. Loved Apollo like a son and was always looking out for what was best for him. He also always respected Rockly as a real fighter no mater his low He was on the totem pole in the early days and was more than happy to be in his corner when him and Apollo team up and after Apollo passed. He a champion trainer, mentor and friend. One of a kind character

Excellent video. I got the chills at the end. I’ve watched the Rocky films many times over the years, eventually realizing just how good Tony Burton was. I couldn’t help but think that even though Stallone wrote the Rocky movies, everybody made their parts entirely their own, as if they actually WERE these characters. That’s how good they all were.
