Tony Clifton can really belt out a song. I saw him once out in Vegas. He was fantastic. The highlight of the show was when he would rhyme out several different words. I never knew how talented Tony was, and boy, what a hoofer! After the show, I was lucky enough to see him in the coffee shop in the Casino. Within 5 minutes, he drew a crowd of a thousand people screaming and dying to just say hello. He was so nice to everybody there. We love you Tony! Here’s to the big C!

Nope, that's Kaufman. There is a clip floating around out there where Andy breaks character and takes off his sunglasses on this particular show and talks to the camera behind the scenes. You can always tell when it's Zmuda because his Tony's voice is just a bit higher.

When did this air originally? I think that this may have really messed me up, when I was a kid. Watching this now, this is kind of dark. I understood The Muppet Show, as a 3-5 year old. I understand it differently today. This is communicating the fact that there was a disapproval of Tony Clifton. Of course, Andy Kaufman wanted that. He also wanted Tony Clifton on the main stage. My parents let me watch this weird show. They thought it was a Muppets special. I don’t want to be a Karen. BTW, I’m a guy… I saw a black wigged Miss Piggy coming down my hall way every night from the time I was three, until I was five. This really stirred something in me.

That cheap Clifton you are referring to, is one in which Andy did his own makeup, on a small show. This is a much more highly produced show with professional makeup artists. it is definitely Kaufman just with better facial prosthesis Zmuda couldn't hold pitch as well as A.K. watch Bob's Late Night, with Letterman appearance in 82.
