When Kane gets a decent ball he generally hits the target or scores. He's unusually brilliant in front of goal. BUT just like Rasmus at United, if you don't get the crosses into the box, he ain't going to score. Goal-machine Erling Haarland would have exactly the same problem. This, just like at Man United, is a midfield/Winger, not a Striker issue. We need our wingers and midfield to break past their back lines, get up the pitch and get them running towards their own goal. If you put the ball around the 6 yard box then Kane will score.

I think everyone is really getting carried away with how bad England are and I agree they have been underwhelming but they have 4 points, good chance of topping the group and the draw is really favourable. If England top the group then it's a 3rd place team and if they win that it's most likely Switzerland or Italy which is a really great opportunity to get to the semifinal. I really think England can get to semis

Of course Kane can be justifiably criticized, if he is not losing defenders with his movement, running off the ball, makiing himself available why would the midfield pass aimless balls to him, even the best have on off day or two, still wouldn't drop him though..yet.

I’m afraid our sports media have given Southgate a free pass for way too long when he should have done better the last Euros with the squad he had and should have won the last World Cup but blew up at the last hurdle. What is Tony watching??? Its not like Kane is on the last defender, making runs behind and getting into the box, but know one is finding him. Kane is causing all of his own/the teams problems. He drops deep, causing the whole team to drop deep. He doesnt win enough of the long balls and when he does, he takes too many touches and doesnt get into the box. Bellingham or Watkins would be a better option at 9. Foden is the best 10. Gordon offers pace/width on the left and Saka on the right. Kane isnt right for this attack.

England is playing 2 CDMs, Rice and Gallagher don't cross the halfway line and only pass it backwards. How do you expect the front 4 to press or get any support? Bellingham gets the ball in midfield and the CDMs stay in defence, there is 6 at the back and that is Kanes fault? Moron. Benzema plays the exact same as harry kane, they are complete forwards they drop deep win the ball and feed the wingers or playmakers, he's getting no support. If he stayed up top it doesn't matter if it's Messi, Mbappe, Kane, Lewandowski, Ronaldo they will not get service because it's a tactical issue. Would City drop Gundogan or De Bruyne for another CDM? It does not matter who is upfront or on the wings or number 10, when 2 of your midfielders simply do not cross the halfway line.

He isn't staying high to receive service. What use is a striker in an attacking sense in his own 18 yard box? Stay high, link play, hold the ball up, make runs. Just trotting about at half pace backwards is useless to everyone.

He drops deep to get the ball, because the midfield & pivots are passing sideways & backwards for 90 mins. There's also nobody beating their fullback and getting balls into the box. Saka did that 3 times in the first 45 mins of game 1. That's about all. Still, his instinct is to cut inside and pass the ball off. There's literally nothing coming from the left. Kane stayed high in game 1 and everybody moaned that he didn't do anything (because he didn't see the damn ball). He's scored 47 in all comps this season. The midfield 5 need to get the ball to him, and he will get it in the net.

How is he going to get service in games where we are practically holding on? There is barely any midfield play or link through midfield to attack anyway ffs lmao. Ask this question when England are playing well, sure. Asking this question when England are playing poor just shows you aren't understanding what's actually happening on the pitch. Kane comes deep *because* there is no service, because our midfield control is nonexistent and therefore he comes deep because he is one of the few reliable players who can hold possession and pass to a top class standard. People banging on about kane when it's the midfielders that are actually failing hard is just baffling to me. Rice and Trent as an experiment has backfired, so has playing Bellingham and Foden practically in the same position. As has forcing Bellingham in the 10 and Trent as a CM. Saka waits for his bus on the right wing and there is literally nobody on the left. But sure, let's make Kane a scapegoat somehow, despite the obvious tactical own goals and having all these supposed world class midfielders that have seen us overrun and dominated in midfield in two games. Harry Kane is that guy who comes along and puts the last piece into a 10'000 piece puzzle, after 10 other people have almost completed it and takes credit for it.
