My dad and I met him once at adelaide oval before the play had started for the day. What a great guy he was, not much different from how he was in front of the camera. Dad even asked to see his keys (that were famous for testing the pitch) joking around and he grabbed them out of his pocket and said sorry, these are only the keys to my rental car 😂

I miss the old commentary of Ch9. It felt like you were just in the middle of mates having a chat and calling the cricket. Nothing awkward, raw laughs and proper cricket opinions. Richie and Tony are forever commentary immortals. R.I.P

I had the great honour to see Tony Greig bat for Sussex from the very beginning of his career in England. First ever ball dispatched to the boundary. His mild mannered nature, his courtesy and his personal courage was a joy to behold and an example to young players everywhere. Always gave time to sign autographs, always gave time to talk and smile with young fans. A hero of the Green. Thank you Tony. Others could learn from his example.

the cricket telecasts of 90s had its special aura to it due to Tony greig and Richie benaud I still remember him saying "the people are dancing in the aisles" during sachins desert storm innings of 1997 sharjah cup vs Australia...the telecast without these two is not the same anymore..RIP Tony & Richie.

I met Tony in penrith 2 weeks ago...his grandkids play cricket for penrith and our team were playing next to them...such a nice bloke...he even did commentating for us

RIP Greigy, the sport of cricket will never be the same again. It feels like with Mr. Greig dying the game of cricket also died with it a little bit. He is the voice of cricket, and sometimes he is cricket itself, truly the greatest commentator and play by play man of all time. RIP Mr. Tony Greig

It was always great when Tony Greig and Bill Lawry were commentating on an ashes test. They were both totally partisan and loved putting the other down if their team was on top, but there was also an obvious deep friendship and respect between them.

Reminds me of a match at Adelaide Oval, Shane Warne had come on to bowl... And Tony was complaining about him bowling from the wrong end... Chappelli said "No wonder you couldn't play leg spin bowling... This end is perfect." Tony later questioned Richie, the leg spin expert in the commentary team, and he repeated Chappelli's opinion.

I grew up watching test cricket on my tiny parents TV with the great commentators Benaud, Greig, Blofeld, Miller, Tyson, Chappelli, Lawry et al. Today, the Indian, New Zealand and South African commentators put the Australian buffoons to shame.
