This expresses very well what the British Sunday was like. Boring , now it's boring with open shops .

This really works! I've known this episode for 30-odd years, and I can always listen to it without boredom, but what you did actually refreshed it for me, and I laughed out loud. Your Grizelda Pugh was brilliant - I'm going to see this in my head every time I listen to Hancock on Radio 4 Extra from now on.

I did film it in colour, but seemed more appropriate to transfer it to youtube in b/w.

I was brought up listening to the great Tony Hancock & am a huge fan. This is probably my most favourite episode, in fact I have the old LP of it & know every line word for word. Haven't listened to it for years though (I must buy myself a record player!). Thanks for this, it is excellent & brought back very happy memories :D

My favourite of Hancocks to listen to and never bored of it. At first I thought "oh god no* but I was pleasantly surprised and a bit hooked to see how you did this and adding Sid James and Hattie Jacques was brilliant and very funny. Well done. In fact very well done 😁👍

@PALINDUP Spike Milligan said it best when he quoted that Hancock shut the door on everybody and finally on himself. Tony Hancock would have been a superb No2 in 'The Prisoner', particularly the episode ; 'The Girl Who Was Death'. He would have offered some welcome light relief and lit up the screen with Patrick McGoohan! Thanks again and 'be seeing you!'

This is brilliant - this was my favourite of all the Hancock 1/2 hours - I even preferred this to the blood donor. Fantastic job - would loved to have seen the whole episode by you - realise how much time and effort you have put in - now off to find my old vynl LP of this show. Cheers Buddy.... Pete (Australia)

That really was fantastic. He doesn't really look like Tony like some others who have played him on TV but the mobility in his face is about as close to Hancock as I could imagine. Can't believe that this did not make it onto TV 10 years ago when he looked the perfect age for the part too

Maybe he was drunk - it was the Jameson's talking... While the infamous youtube "Swirl of Doom" keeps me waiting at 2.50 into it I can say this is superbly done, and I'm looking forward to the other six minutes and four seconds!

It's in the genes clearly. I think it's the dignity mainly, and the sweater. Those cable knits are hard to come by, but it would have been spoiling the ship for a ha'pworth of tar! It was worth the effort. No name no pack drill as they say.. It doesn't go unnoticed you can rest assured of that. But if I had a badge to give I would give it willingly, for Service.

@PALINDUP Like badfaith75 I thought I'd hate this but it WAS watchable, eventhough it's the shortest half hour in history. This episode is equaled by the episode 'The Last Bus Home'. In as much that nothing much happens but it's hilarious. I've been a fan for 30 yrs and my 1st Hancock experience was 'The Rebel'. Having been used to lighter comedians such as Formby and Wisdom, my initial impression of him was slightly uncomfortable. Listening and watching the existing episodes changed my mind.

Sorry for the double post - youtube's playing me up tonight. 'Ere I am still trying to watch the rest of the video. Refresh and reload, and - it sticks again. I thought TV was rubbish but at least their videos used to move about! KZbin's just sort of lie there and freeze. Every night it's the same, nothing to watch and nothing to do but wait for the swirl of doom to finish and the next lot of suggestions to come up. Stone me, what a service...

@PALINDUP Aswell as the wallpaper, it's a shame you didn't include the suggestion of games by Bill (especially 'Murders'), the couple opposite the street and of course Kenneth Williams who often stole the show. Having watched and listened to this talent and read so many biographies, one can't help coming to the conclusion that Hancock didn't understand his own limitations until the end. Hancock NEEDED his support (especially Sid) but above all he needed Ray and Alan's scripts.
