@@glp.1337 How old are you? Sounds like a grumpy old man thing to say. I'm 30 years old but I understand that this comment isn't about being a spineless jellyfish or crybaby to gain attention but simply that people should keep it real. It's not bad to have emotion and face it, showing that you're an actual person who can be vulnerable and yet face that vulnerability like a man at the same time. I don't know where you're living but where I live people acting like you can't show emotion if you're a man is still a very very common thing. A man that shows vulnerability is socially outcast in every way possible except by the very few woke idiots who aren't worth being friends with in the first place and have even less understanding about what it means to be a man.

For sure. Where i grew up in the Netherlands, every kid played football/soccer, several of my friends even became pros nationally and some even internationally. Skating wasn’t anywhere here, you would have to search really hard if you’d want to find a single kid skating. But yet everyone had heard of Tony Hawk and the fact he was a Skateboarder. Nowadays when people hear of a famous person, they might have heard them by name but they won’t even know what they’re famous for, but not with Tony. He just had that much impact on the sport. I’ve touched a skateboard only once in my life ( and it resulted in me tripping and the skateboard landing right on my eye, giving me a pretty bad black eye for about 2 weeks ), but yet i keep following the Tony from time to time just because he’s a great dude

Back in my skating days you saw the video of an excident and 6 months later a video about the person doing 12 stairs backside kickflip. It always gave me the feeling that I am a chicken and that I should not be scared after I fell or broke something. Good to see that a pro has the same feelings

to see a living legend like Tony work and grind thru his struggles just goes to show how relative everyones pain, struggles and hardships are, whats easy to some can be like climbing the mount everest to others....hes not only a legendary skater, but also a legendary human being, and we are lucky to witness such a real ass dude such as him.

This just made me shed a tear. "Occupation: Skateboarder" was the first book I ever read, on the backseat of our family camper on a road trip through southern Europe. And here I am now: A 32-year old dude who is only now realising how much of an influence you've had on me. Why am I crying? Maybe it’s because I learned from you that greatness comes from overcoming obstacles, again and again. That pushing yourself for the things you value is what gets you further in life. That success, ultimately, is not the money you make, but to be able to continue doing what you love. Thank you, Tony. You inspired millions. 🖤
