After the failed RIDE experiment, Robomodo returned the following year with a second effort at the skateboard controller. Nobody ever talks about this game so it's up to us to find out what improvements were made (if any at all)!

I'll go into to it in the making off but yeah, I've learnt a lot about that process in the last year, but the logos this year were also a lot simpler in design (notice how we haven't had a single intro hype type thing yet).

Tony hawk wanted a game that taught people how to skateboard without the danger of doing it. Activision took that idea and told robomoto to make dirt trash crap so they could try to pull a guitar hero and kill off a IP.

I found the cutscenes quite charming actually... like if they came from a good place. Definitely terrible but they such a nice tone to them I can't even get mad. The kind of stuff I like even more for their flaws because they feel more autenthic in a way but maybe I'm just weird.

When I was a kid growing up I remember both Ride and Shred being advertised heavily in my area. Tony Hawk games in general used to always have commercials running in my area and these 2 flops were no different. I also remember going to shopping malls with my parents and seeing giant stacks of boxes of these games everywhere because no one was buying them lmfao.

It’s sad, how I see it is back when Neversoft released the first underground they were like “yah, this is the pinnacle of the Tony Hawk series! It’s been a good run boys, time to move on to something else” but then they got a letter back from the publisher saying “fakin make moar of dah monies with dah Tony Hawks yah bastards!”. So they kept pumping these out with each release being more tired then the last, because what do you do with a series when you’ve pretty much done everything you wanted to do with it? Then finally they were allowed to let go of the series as it slowly died as gimmicky trash like this.

I played Tony Hawk Shred as a kid and I remember having fun playing it. Now I dont want to go back to it because I doubt I'll enjoy it the same way I did as a kid But dont you worry, I also had Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on PS2 to enjoy and still enjoying to this day

Was surprised how Ride held up in the beginning on the PS3 version, I just can't help but feel that its overkill over just something like the balance board, reminds me of the skating arcade game Sega made early on, and actually worked ALOT better... Except for its wireless in this case and doesn't work for jack shit.. Does anyone even remember that arcade game? It came out in the late 90's I wanna say, good job being late bird man XD

Night Ninja The game was called "Top Skater". We still have the machine at the mall near where I live but it's just the skeleton so you can't play it. But I remember playing it just before arcades became obsolete and you're right, it actually did work.

Shred kinda has Create A Skater, but only for Xbox 360 and Wii, using Avatars for the 360 version, and Miis for the Wii version.

It's funny how Skate kinda feels like it was made specifically because EA wanted to give the middle finger to Activision and show them how you make a skateboarding game. Then Skate 3 killed their series even faster than Ride and Shred did the Tony Hawk games.

@Nicotine So yeah, I tried to not outright say it, because THUG PRO is already amazing and the last thing they need is people demanding stuff from outside the scope of the project, but seeing as they have some Disney Skate Adventure and Project 8 maps in there, I wish they would put in Shred and Ride stuff in as well so people could play the levels with some actually great controls.

Create-A-Skater is kind of in this game! You use your Xbox Live Avatar in the Xbox 360 version, You use Miis in the Wii version, and nothing in the PS3 version.
