Personally, I rather watch MTV or play MTV Music Generator. Yeah, they had a Music Maker Software for both the PS1 and PC. Spoiler alert, it's just the US version of a game called Music 2000. The only thing good about this game might be System Of A Down being in the game, and maybe the Moon level, just because it was a reference to when MTV first aired back in Augest 1st 1981. In fact, MTV still has some of the whole Astronaut theme to this day with some of their production studios.... I miss the time where they actually aired Jackass. That was the shit.

Fun fact: This game is so unfinished and uncared for, that its also broken completion wise. Literally impossible to actually complete and unlock everything, because they didn't make an unlock requirement for one character, a bunch of decks AND the San Francisco level. You HAVE to use the unlock everything cheat to get them, no other way. Hell, i checked through this on the PC version and they don't even have a damn unlock screen ready for said character and level and such like they do for the rest (and they also left text files of what is beta content they had for testing, including characters with names like Alf Hucker and Boner Petite). There's even outfits from 26 to 30 that aren't even unlocked in the game WITH the unlock everything cheat, but they're listed in the files of the game! Hell, Outfit 21 and 22 are the EXACT SAME TEXTURES, yet they have "different brands" on the right. I spent alot of days/over a week of constantly playing, replaying the main mode (Lifestyle) with EVERY character, getting perfect 10's in every single tournament, doing the other modes more than once, going through everything again and again... its just unfinished in so many ways. You have to do Lifestyle mode THREE TIMES to unlock 2 characters, AND the boards and outfits. AND you have to play MTV Hunt TWICE because the game DOESNT unlock both characters if you got both all the boards and completed all the levels in one go. You have to redo a level afterwards to get the other character. And there's nothing to hint you about that. AND Stunt Mode you only do once, because after, they then just give you random increases in the score every successful run of every level, there's nothing else to get. And considering Dark Black's reputation is this and the worst of the Rocket Power games... yea, they somehow beat Crave in being irredeemable. At least Andy Macdonald managed to get an ok/meh skateboarding game... for kids... which is part of a humongous entertainment series of games called the Backyard games. Backyard Skateboarding. Its not the worst extreme sports game i've experienced in my life, but MTV Sports Skateboarding 100% deserves a 1/10, both this and the Gameboy version. Its a cash grab with 100% no play testing or care whatsoever given, with a developer who made this, a crap Rocket Power game and then died right after with that being their only legacy.

I can see how the choppy framerate can affect the gameplay, as it might just end up eating the player's inputs, leading to much frustration. Speaking of which, when it comes to extreme sports games (as well as several other genres of games), making the controls as tight as possible is a top priority, but it looks as though they dropped the ball here.

I'm crushing the 200,000 point score but I guess the judges don't like the variety in my runs. They did such an ASS job of the controls. THey tried to be like toney hawk but different. Why could they just copy tony hawk 100% for the controls? The buttons are basicly the same.

Some of the time, when a game just won't play properly, like this one seems to be doing, it's because you're not doing some weird fiddly thing that the game expects. Sometimes that info is buried in the manual, or sometimes it's a quirk of the testers that was built around for the full game (like a specific timing or something). That's my guess as to what's going on here, because from the video, there's no clear indication as to why you tumble off some of those rails. The grab tricks, it _appears_ like you're holding them too long. I had similar troubles in THPS 1+2. The old timing had been modified some, and I found myself holding tricks just a tiny bit too long, and bailing what visually appeared to be a flawless landing. You can adjust to it, in time. Is this game worth that adjustment period, tho?
