I agree. This is the essence of the show. It’s a show about people with anti social personality disorders. Narcissist who only see things from their point of view and only feel sorry for themselves. The loneliness that comes along with that when the constant action and dominance quiets down in their minds. Very well done!!
@johnclay27162 ай бұрын
" false badassness " Tony is definitely a badass, he was a football player, he became a mob capo in his 20s, probably did a dozen hits and we see him beat up several other street guys. I think the " SIGMA MALE CIGAR SEX " edit stuff is cringe but Tony is absolutely a tough guy
@schneidervonhammer72210 ай бұрын
The Sopranos was a cult classic. RIP James/ Tony Soprano, a Mob boss from the New York scene, caught in the crossfire of his own missteps and shortcomings. In the boroughs and hidden backrooms, his story unfolds like a tragic opera, with each misfire and betrayal echoing through the canyons of the concrete jungle. The streets mourn the passing of a boss whose legacy is a symphony of regrets and unspoken sorrows.

I never thought that at the age of 16 I would cry because of a man's problems with a midlife crisis and depression. At first it seems that this is a series about the mafia and tough guys with guns. But damn it, it's not like that. This is a series about life. About people and about a person who gets worse, thinking that everything is getting better. It hurts like hell to see every shot of Tony in the final episode. By the end, he had become a real spiritual bankrupt. He had nothing left but his son, daughter and wife. And the black screen shows the viewer the inevitability of the end. Every life has an end, every picture has boundaries, every series has an ending. Thank you so much for edit, great work!

I would like to offer some feedback if I may. Please consider doing more content like this, summarising characters. I have found this video deeply moving. I have seen the Sopranos around 8 times all the way through over the years and view this edit as a rock skimming across the surface of time; capturing brief moments of Tony's life. Starting from the nub of his depression you edit in an early monologue of his "too late to get in at the ground floor". This is very similar to how my clients present in therapy. They tell their story in an attempt to make meaning. There is a sense of a grasping hope beneath, often a yearning. I feel like you have used Tony's therapy, his frustration, despair and vulnerability to illuminate the core of his character. I feel a resonance with him that reminds me of my own pain and loss. I see myself and him as two tornados; as the rock skips between waves on the water I feel at one with his experience. The paradox of commitment and it accompanying loss echos in this edit. You have a gift in editing the waves of emotion in moving pictures. Thanks.

Hi, thank you so much for the thought out reply. Your sentiment is truly appreciated - I'm surprised by how well received the piece has turned out to be, this was simply a passion project I made with little to no expectations for how well it would perform. It was simply my own interpretation of Tony as a character, so I'm happy so many people could relate to why I presented him the way I did. In terms of future videos like this, truthfully I'm not sure - The Sopranos in particular moved me in ways not many shows/films have done in the past, but if I ever feel strongly about something in the future, I will definitely do a piece. Thanks again.

Watched Sopranos when I was fairly young. Re-watched it again as I have gotten older, and the show has so many other meanings now. Life really just is a perpetual existential crisis that you have to maintain somehow. I can see now why people turn to religion or other forms of spirituality. You need some sort of anchor eventually. You aren't always going to end up with the career that you wanted, or that family and a picket fence dream, or whatever else desire you had when you were younger and the possibilities seemed more open ended. In the end, I think Tony wanted to believe he was doing it all for his family, and he'd meet death head on, but at a deeper conscious level, he knew this wasn't the case.
