Powder coating can hide cracks in welds. Also, some say the baking process with powder coating can weaken the metal as well.

No, the heat from baking powder coating does not affect the chromoly tubing at all. It's only 350-400 F, not near enough to change the crystalline structure of metals. You might want to try reading before posting.
