the punishment did not fit the crime. impose a twenty year ban basically take away her best years, but a life sentence? it's unfair, to never allow her to skate again or even coach. she has incredible skill. what a waste. young ppl make mistakes and she has paid heavily. enough already.

She plotted and planned to have her competition eliminated because the judges didn't like her. This took premeditation. Had the crime lacked premediated then maybe, just maybe the punishment wouldn't have been so harsh. In addition if Tonya had not been such a brutish, behaved more like a lady, and followed the program more then the judges would have favored her more like Nancy.

She was always better than Nancy. If you watch her performances compared to Nancy, Tonya was always better. She never got the scores she deserved. And in the 1992 olympics, the only reason why she fell behind Nancy is because she fell doing her triple axel, other than that Nancy couldn’t do what Tonya could do.

I will always have a place in my heart for Tonya. I saw her live at an exhibition in 1992. Her jumps stopped my heart. At the apoge of her jump her feet were almost level with the top of the barrier. You cannot see this on tv. She had so much height that she started her rotation at the top and finished on the way down.

IT was more than that I think, her husband was a really slippery creature, it was ALL about the money she would attract from a gold, all Tonya wanted was the gold, ANYONE can see it. When you see his friends in the movie {the fat one is on here, he is even more delusional in real life} you can see how this happened, she was naive and she was young, but one thing she wasn't was under confidant she knew her ability, it shines out of her in interview of the time, she wasn't afraid on any competition

Here is my perspective: Before the incident happened, Tonya overheard from her ex-husband that "he was gonna take somebody down". But Tonya couldn't make the link to say this to the police to prevent the incident from happening. After the incident happened, Tonya didn't say to the police that it was her ex-husband who hired that man. However, I still don't think Tonya should have been punished so severely.

I did ice skating for 7/12 years and I loved it. I quit because I started working at 16 and my mom couldn’t afford it anymore. I was going to return in the fall of 2018 but on 03/02/2018 I suffered a severe car accident. My car was almost split in half on the drivers side of my car by a women texting and driving at 75 miles per hour. I fractured my shoulder blade, lower spine, pelvis in 3 places, left hip and my left knee was all mangled. Doctors told me that I would never walk again due to the accident being so badly severe. I was up walking within 2 months without the use of a wheelchair or walker. I still can’t ice skate because the doctor said you got lucky but he said you can never skate ever again because I am very clumsy and can’t keep my balance, he said if I was to fall down then i would be paralyzed from the waist down permanently. I still miss skating, the hardest part is when I take my nieces and nephew skating I can’t join them because due to my body being high risk at 28 years old, it’s hard to watch them and I would love to join them and laugh with them. 😢😢

I work in orthopedics. Perhaps get a second opinion. Maybe see a Sports Medicine doctor. I dunno your situation but I'm sure you know better than I do that 28 is too young to be stuck like that. What a bummer. I hope you can prove that doc wrong someday like you did when you walked

I wish they would have used actual clips of Tonya's ice skating in competition in the movie. Tonya did not deserve the fine, the punishment, and to be banned from skating, nor should she have been stripped of her title, she was not on drugs, she had NO involvement in this crime, she took the bitter pill of the judge and ice skating associations anger, and the men who actually planned and did the crime were free from prison after 2 years! Discrimination, abuse , and over kill on the punishment for an innocent lady ice skater. I will always support Tonya's innocence, I read all I could find, she was abused by her first husband, very badly , he was the mastermind of the crime, Tonya was NOT involved. Freedom of speech & press USA copyrighted. The best lady ice skater on earth shall always be Tonya Harding, no one can take that away from her ,ever, and I am glad you have a husband and a son , Tonya, may life be full of love , happiness and fun for you !
