Honestly speaking, it’s pretty unfair that she was banned from doing something she was so good in and clearly loved to do because of something she didn’t even do.

But then she knew about it. She knew what was going on as she heard people (and by people I mean Jeff Gillooly and Shawn Eckhardt). Sure she didn't know about the beating but she knew about the letters of it.

@@danstafford5977 People can’t be held accountable, I know that. I was just stating she knew what was going on. She could’ve told someone yet chose not to. If people hear rumours of mass murder or suicide, they tell someone to keep people safe.

@@danstafford5977That wasn't some rumor. She admitted that her friends told her about plotting an attack but she wasn't involved in an actual planning of it. But that just screams 'guilty'. If you knew what was happening, you could have easily prevented it but you chose not to, you chose to put a blind eye on it which results in you supporting the idea.

To think about how great she was with everything she endured-physical & mental abuse at the hands of her mother, continued abuse from Gilooly and the judgments by the figure skating world, can you imagine how great she could have been if she had a stable home environment & surroundings with people that supported her? She was so strong & athletic--she could skate anyone else under the table in her prime. And to think she did all that--including triple axles--in less than ideal skates, skating outfits & other necessary items. She didn’t have new skates when she wanted them or custom made designer skate dresses like the other girls, but what she did have was sheer strength & raw power. Everybody demonized her and there was no proof she had anything to do with the attack on Harding. Is she perfect. No. But for anybody judging her & bad mouthing her, I challenge you to grow up in a household like hers, with her mother and get beaten up every day. Then quit school and hook up with an abusive, mentally ill man. I bet you wouldn’t make it anywhere near as far as Tonya did.

She brought a unique, never before seen image to the sport. It’s a shame she was so pressured to portray their version of what a figure skater should have looked like. And she had more talent than most that were chosen above her.

From my perspective, she knew about the letters but didn't know that Nancy would actually be harmed. It was mainly her abusive husband's fault. I think that the fine and the community service was enough but she didn't deserve to be banned from skating for life.

Shooting pool and smoking cigarettes? 🙄Big deal. I don't recall ever hearing about John McEnroe or Muhammad Ali being publicly judged for snorting coke at Studio 54. It wasn't enough for the institution of figure skating that she was the best in the world, she was also expected to be Miss America. She was no beauty pageant young American Miss, she was a rocket-fueled, powerhouse, Hold-My-Beer type of figure skater. And that's what I loved about her. I hate that beauty pageant crap.
