As a 20 year old listener of hip-hop with white acquaintances...these young white people WANT to say nigga. Do not give them a pass. They know what they are doing. I've seen them RELISH that word in song form. That scene in Bel-Air was spot on 🤷🏿‍♂️

This! I had a White friend in high school ask me if I'd be ok w/ him saying the N-word while rapping Tupac lyrics 😐, in the early 00s. They BEEN looking for our approval to use the N-word for decades, it ain't about a new generation of hip-hop fans. I pointed out, that I don't use the word around my White friends, because I don't EVER want them using it or thinking it's cool to use in like company. Even pointed out if he got too comfortable with it & slipped up around the wrong one what happens to him is on him 🤷🏽‍♀️. Young fans turn into adult fans. Check them early, so we ain't got to deal with them as adults throwin' the N-word around.

Amir and Chaz made the greatest points about holding people accountable, in regards to the N-word, even if they're just reciting lyrics. Whether they were born yesterday or 70 yrs prior, they either know better or need to taught better. Not saying every Black person has to be compelled to hold non black people accountable every time they hear them use the word BUT it is unacceptable no matter how you slice it..... Love the show guys!

I agree with Tony on it being hard to disown your parents. It’ll be easy in the heat of the moment but after time goes on, you’ll definitely feel it. Especially if this is the only “trash” thing that they’ve ever done to you. They still would have to be the one’s who have to change but don’t think it’ll be that easy.

‼️1:06:00: Talk about military respect. I was in the military from 2013-2018, there is still big racism in there. If you walked to the smoke pit, people would group by race, with few outliers. You have to take a test to make rank in the Navy. I scored in the top 10% my first three test( example: if 5000 people took the test, I was in the top 10% of them and the quota would be the top 14% would make it) and did not make it because the big portion of the scoring relies on your evaluation, (which is done by your Chain of Command and it’s rare if you have a full POC or even majority POC chain of command. I did a lot of my division. I was doing E5 work and an E2/E3. Also, if to many black people start making rank, they will move you out the division from my experience.
@SkeetersCousin

Even if kids aren't aware of what nigga means in music or socially, if you just keep letting it slide then they get more and more comfortable saying it outside of rap lyrics. Once they get comfortable its hard to stop that cycle and then everyone will just start saying it because they think we as black people are ok with it. Only time a person outside of black should be saying it is if they are in a movie or play where it's in the script for that character. Other than that, hell nah

Chaz is on point regarding the N-word. I also see where Tony was going regarding ‘N’ & ‘F’ however the N-word can be used as a term of endearment, much like the B-word so that would’ve been comparable. The ‘F’ is just a slur. (SN-Majorly or Majority would have both worked 🙂)

So, the nigga thing changed with me because as a kid my parents used to say I was “doin too much” or “I complain too much” lol so when kids would say stuff I just never told my parents. When I was in High school, I played baseball, Golf, and I was a nerd haha so I was doin “non black” stuff and really gettin made fun of for it by the black kids, so because I was playin baseball and golf wit mostly white kids and at that time, I had a “imma ignore the ignorance because if I give a reaction they gone keep doin it” mentality, I used to let hella stuff slide. Cut too, my 3 year of college I went to college in Akron and came back to a Columbus downtown which them areas is very black, I started to see the blackness and love it. Had a lot of self esteem issues I never talked about with my parents. So I started vocalizing the “don’t say that don’t do this” to friends and of course some left and some apologized and changed some just knew. Me in hs, idda let the nigga stuff slide but now, I don’t but I also explain why and if they don’t care and also how disrespectful it gets I just cut em off or I almost threw hands for someone. If actually got me to talk to my parents cause I had this internal battle of “am I black enough, am I good enough” I skateboard, golf and play baseball which was never very black, but the more you dive into it, man…can’t let it slide. My wife is white, her parents are cool and never bring up race about anything. I always had it in my head that if I can’t be me I front of ANYONE folks, I can’t be wit ‘em. I remember tellin them during thanksgiving that I don’t play bout my blackness and if someone say some mess I’m not messin wit em and they all came through and was like “idc if you was purple from planet quasar, if yah love each other and treat each other right, we all good” and they get along wit my family so….yeah, I don’t let it slide round me and I also try to really let these lil black kids know to not let it slide either.

Just wanted to say that if you're Black and doing a thing, it instantly becomes a thing Black people do, cause you're doing it. 😊 You may not see other Black folks in your vicinity doing it, but know that YOU ARE SEEN by someone Black and you might be the inspiration they need to know whatever they're into is acceptable and a thing Black people do. TLDR: Black folks doing a thing means it's instantly a thing that Black folks do. ❤️🖤💚💛

This whole N word discussion is all over the place. Latinos/Hispanics, Asians, and even some white people who grew up in certain areas use the word. You can’t accept it from Puerto Ricans and Mexicans and then say other groups shouldn’t say it. If you feel like people who aren’t black shouldn’t say it…that should go for EVERYONE. We as black people need to stop making folks black who don’t identify as black. It’s annoying. All Puerto Ricans are not black. There is a clear difference between J.lo and Lala Anthony.
