So happy to hear you had a nice trip Chas. I am black and my husband is Dominican. When we visited the DR they made me feel at home as well. It was a wonderful trip. We also stayed in Puerto Plata. They treated as like royalty. The food was delish, and the hospitality was 10/10.

They don't consider themselves black like we do but they embrace the African roots. Black is more Black American, they are Afro Latino which is different than black for them. They broke it down for me, and it's completely different cultures.

25:05 Chaz when i first went to Nigeria i had that same experience, and oddly enough it made me think "I get it white people" But the first time its always like an epiphany the bankers, the police, the government officials, the actors, the store owners everybody looks like you and theres no underlining behaviour like people think/know there "second class" citizens. Especially when you go as an adult where you have had a life in the west, you quickly realize there is psychological baggage you are carrying that's been buried in the back of your mind that you just accepted as normal. Theres a guard you can let down that until then you never knew you always had up.

I went to DR in October, it was so amazing I went back in February. As a Black American it felt really amazing to be able to see myself everyday there and be welcomed like family. It’s a shame- I’m in my 30’s and this was the first time I had that experience. Also, Chaz should have just paid up 😂
