I have both cat and dogs and imo it depends on the pet itself there's good (trained) dogs and bad dogs, cats, cats are cats they just chill af and they do their own things they funny and really aware, i noticed that my cats notice things more than my dogs, they'll watch you cook or even play video games, they'll come to you when they want company, it depends on the person tbh

In defense of dogs, though, a quick story. A few years ago, I owned both a dog and cat. They both slept in the bedroom with me and my husband. I slept with earplugs because my husband snores and my dog had a tendency to lick herself obnoxiously in the middle of the night. Anyway, one night, she starts barking incessantly and I can hear her through my ear plugs. My dog was not a barker. It was weird. Next thing you know, my nephew's knocking on our bedroom door telling us the efficiency attached to our house is on fire. The efficiency is pretty much underneath our bedroom so we had to get out. My dog was barking because she knew about the fire before we did. So we're gathering everything together that matters to get it out of the house, smoke is beginning to billow up through our heating vents, and s*** got real! Meanwhile, my f****** cat has my pregnant ass chasing him all around the bedroom to get him in his crate! So shout out to all the dogs who are loyal out here in these streets trying to keep their owners alive. I'm very much a cat person, but I recognize cats are assholes.

Dogs are great. They actually do have jobs as service animals, are easier to train (you can train cats too though), and they are magnificent creatures. Cats help control rodent population for centuries which helps prevent us from plagues. They are psychic and they show love (a slow blink is a cats sign they love you). I love dogs. I love cats.
