Well i've been teased with photo's for the past few days from Tony with updates of my bodywork and the nightmare that these decals have been to fit! What most people won't have seen is how poor these panels were to begin with and the difference is night and day, it really gives you an appreciation of the time and patience that this job has required and words can't describe how happy i am to see these panels being restored to there former glory. The bike was dormant for 13 years and these are the final pieces to my Suzuki GSXR1100WS jigsaw! I tip my hat to you Tony, fantastic work (as always) and to see the process documented this way, well just makes you smile mate :)

Good to watch.. I'm a little surprised at how much you can spray on without it running. Seems like you kept layering more and more clear over and over. It's great to get that deep shine and the extra protection of a good solid coat of clear but I'd have been worried it would run later. So you put a clear coat over the base then applied the graphics bthen another clear coat, so the base coat isn't up against the graphics...ok. I thought you'd put the decals straight onto the base coat then clear. It's a good idea so none ofw the base seeps into the decals..

So if my bike doesn't have plastic parts and is all metal that i want to put my decals on do i need to put a layer of clear coat on before and after i add the decals ? Or just after the decals? In other words can i lay the decals straight on to the paint and then clear coat over the decals and paint or should i clear coat over all the paint first then put decals over clear coat then a second layer of clear coat over decals ?

Those panels look mint so far Tony can't wait to see how they turn out after the flow coat, I bet your customer Chris is over the moon with the finished product. I like the Ultimate clear from Final Systems but as you say it does tend to suffer with the supplied fast hardener, I tried it a couple of times using the super rapid hardener but even after a couple of hours you could see the drop in gloss, I'm surprised Final Systems haven't sorted this out as it's their premium clear, I think Jordan was involved with the making of this clear so we will have to have words 😂😉 but as you say using the Churchill hardener it's a completely different product. You can buy this as a clear only (no hardener) deal so that's what I will be doing in the future then get the Churchill hardener. Looking forward to the next instalment Tony, stay safe mate 🙏👍
@TonysRefinishingTV3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man glad you enjoyed it and yeah the hardener isn’t the best that done with it but I’m sure the smart repair guys and such like it as it’s so quick which is where I think this has the market I guess
@JohnWD40TC023 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are probably right as it is pretty quick with the supplied hardener, haven't tried the final systems standard/slow hardener maybe that is ok, I have used the Churchill premium fast hardener and that seems fine as well so should be handy when it's colder.
