Another fix that helped was changing the front brakes! I had used aftermarket rotors and now installed Ford rotors and id would say the vibration is gone. Who would've guessed!?!

The plastic shielding on the torque strut, isnt it suppose to face the exhaust pipe? To shield the rubber inside from the hot pipe.
@260King4 ай бұрын
It's a rubber heat shield to block the heat from the exhaust I made/make the similar part and the motor and upper transmission mounts I do injection molding for a lot of Ford parts thinking of putting some new ones on my explorer that I can get for free 😂 🤫

Thanks. I'm doing my rear mount in a couple days. My mechanic said I needed to replace for pa state inspection. I got under the car and grabbed the drive shaft and shook. Mine Is pretty worn. I don't think I have felt any vibration. Thanks again

Hey there! Thank you for this video! I used the second half to replace my transmission torque mount. The longer screw was tough to take out and equally difficult to put back in. I think that it was threaded upon factory installation and made it a pain in the ass. I have a 2012 Explorer and it has a small transmission leak that ate away at the rubber from the OEM mount. I ponyed up the $80 for the Ford mount instead of the $60 from auto zone. Thanks again bud!

I have couple questions? Did you have to use a torque wrench? And did you just have to jack it up from the oil pan to do the transmission mount to? Thanks for the video I am planning on doing it myself thanks!

Having the same issue. I can't seem to locate the real reason. I've changed both motor mounts and it went away for about 6 months. I'm changing the torque mount this weekend. The vibration is driving me nuts. 😓😓😓😓 I also searched and it might be the drive shaft?? Edit: I saw you also changed the drive shaft and that was not the issue.

FRONT F'n BRAKE ROTORS! I replaced MANY parts chasing the F'n vibrations (check out all my other videos) in the end it was the front rotors. I never would've thought.

My vibrates when parked and thumps a bit when accelerate is that because of the mounts?
@InTheGarge2 жыл бұрын
What the mileage? mine started (well when i noticed it) was around 150,000miles .I'm willing to bet yes. Especially the lower torque mount.

@@InTheGarge I’m at 190,000 but I noticed the vibration like around 175,000 i just ignored it 🤦🏽♂️ now it’s thumping when I accelerate a bit I put my hand on the front engine mount and it moves a bit when I press the gas

My Torque setting...."Good Enough"
@jmartinez81813 жыл бұрын
Hi, my 2014 Ford explorer started to vibrate and wobble at around 50mph in the highway. I noticed that the passenger side engine mount had a leak. My question is when you changed the lower torque mount, do you still have the jack lifting the engine?
@InTheGarge3 жыл бұрын
No. No need to jack up the engine IF you are only replacing the lower torque mount.

What’s the torque mount for it
@InTheGarge Жыл бұрын
it keeps the engine and transmission from rocking back and forth when accelerating or decelerating. Generally, when you here a "clunk" sound when accelerating or decelerating 8 times out of 10 its the torque mount. if that doesn't fix it, check the engine and transmission mounts.

Did you jack it up from somewhere to do the transmission one? Or did you just change it without jacking it up?
@InTheGarge2 жыл бұрын
if you are talking about the transmission mount in the engine bay, then all I did was support the engine and trans using a jack with a block of wood under the engines oil pan. No need to jack the car up.

my ford explorer limited 2014 shakes right about when i hit 40 mph to 60 mph then after 60 it stops i changed the passenger side motor mount 2 times and it still dos it im wondering if it the one under the motor ther last you changed

after chasing this vibration for 2 years.... and changing many parts (all helped a bit) but the main issue was the cheap aftermarket front brake rotors!?!

Rockauto says that design is for the Base/XLT models which is weird because it looks more heavy duty than the police utility spec mount. I have a 13 Sport which basically shares everything with the SHO/Police Utility and the rubber bushing on front is completely torn off. My new mount looks like the one you took off.

I havr a problrm with my explorer 2011 it shaik( vibration in aceleration) you think are the engine mount??? Thank you
@InTheGarge2 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert but if it only shakes on acceleration, I would start more along of the line of spark issue. If you never changed the spark plugs and wires, I would start there. I don't think it a motor mount issue. This is only my thought..cant say for sure that is the problem.

Did you have rattle or clunking while stopped in gear?
@patrickackart7643 жыл бұрын
Thats what my 2.0 explorer is doing, replaced the engine mount (passenger side) and the torque arm (center bottom) fixed the issue for about 2-3 months and then it came back, its a loud BANG when shifting in between gears right?
@InTheGarge3 жыл бұрын
It did clunk a bit when putting in gear, especially going into reverse.
@patrickackart7643 жыл бұрын
@@InTheGarge I just replaced my tans mount (came out in 2 pieces) clunking is minimal now but still there, thinking the upper engine side mount is going again, or trans is starting to give up,
@InTheGarge3 жыл бұрын
I replaced all 3 mounts. The 2 upper ones first, which improved the vibration then couple days later I replaced the one located on the under the trans. That one made the most improvement. My Explorer is the 3.5L. But I assume yours would be similar.
