I bet when that hole blew it sounded like a gun going off. Was a strong enough blow to shatter the filter and send chunks of it down the pipe. I'm surprised the owner didn't take it somewhere right after that.

@@firstlast7152 It wouldn't 'blow out' like that even under thousands of PSI of exhaust pressure far beyond what the engine could produce, especially if that bank is already plugged and running poorly. The tears in the metal are where the exhaust began to escape once the shell of the cat began to corrode and pieces of the broken substrate fell downstream and started to restrict the exhaust for BOTH banks.
